First call, as little time and as infrequently as I could get away with, an hour, maybe a touch more, when I did it.

Regular return visits, a couple of hours twice a month.

Cat Publishers they called those who just did an hour, "I've done 'me hour' and I am off". :p

I usually stayed about an hour. As a teen, there was an elder that my brother and I used to try to be assigned to work with. He was the PO. We'd go for about 30 min. then it was break time. We'd try to hit one more door each...then home. My bro and I used to beat the rest of the family home all the time.

When I was older...and making appearances of pioneering, I'd go all day...but always in very rural areas where we drove lots, got out little. We used to find any reason to srew around rather than actually preach. I had bought a Mitsubishi 4X4. We'd always find the toughest houses to get to so that I could use 4 wheel drive to ford streams and climb rugged mountains. It was good times, but we didn't get much preaching done.

I started in the D2D at the age of 8 (up till then I was left with the nanny); did not start counting time until I was 10. From 10 to 14 my time was determined by how long my mother stayed out. That was usually 2 hours. Mostly my non-JW father determined it since we were out of town 3 weekends out of 4. I started regular pioneering around 20 and was scrupulous about my time until I saw how creative the other pioneers were in making 15 minutes 1 hour and 2 hours into 3. When I no longer pioneered, I was still "creative." One day after the driver spent 1 hour looking for a parking spot in the territory while we all rode around too, I wondered if we could count our time. I told my fellow rider, Irreverent, that I wanted to go home. That was my last day in D2D. I did phone witnessing by calling a disconnected number on the list, watched TV, read, then at the end of the hour called the same number.

We would stay out a full two hours. We met at 9 and were in the field by 9:30, had a break usually for 30 minutes or less, and quit at noon or thereabouts.

    or

................as one pioneer I knew would say, when asked how long he was staying out that day, "until my gums bleed"

Depends on how we are counting our time ozzie Actual field service time was probably 30 minutes...but when you add in the breaks...time driving around trying to figure out where we were supposed to be going...time deciding who got to go first...I was probably out there about 2 hours.

About 2 hours, sometimes more. When we had the CO visit, I would spend ALL day out in service. Towards my last year, I would go out in service with just my Bible, and not Watchtower literature. After service, when everyone went their separate ways for Bible studies and or return visits. I would go and visit those who subscribed or ordered literature from the DAWN Bible Students Assn in the neighboring towns. I worked at the DAWN for 18 months while still serving in the JW congregation. I counted my DAWN time with the Society and any Bible Student placements.

Sometimes it was 1 hour going D2D and then 1 hour conducting a bible study. I never had RVs. If the weather was bad, we (mother, brother and I) spent 2 to 3 hours at the bible study. Also, for many years we looked after an elderly woman and she had difficulty walking so we didn't spend too much time out in D2D work on her account()

I know of how the others would count time visiting sick, elderly or IA people. They would stop off at a bakery and buy cake or cookies and then spend an entire afternoon at one of the above mentioned people's houses. As a matter of fact, that's how pioneers mostly got their hours! They didn't "do" D2D.

Two long hours...... One d2d and the other on rvs.

Then there were the years when i had b.studies. So my time would end up at 4 hours.

    I hated Saturdays so much!

#5 - all day! I was a pioneer, though not a very good one. I used to knock as softly as possible and pray that no one would answer!!
