This is a registered charity run by a fella by the name of Delaney.

You can become an associate and help them to raise money

These are the latest figures I could obtain from the UK Charity commission.

They seem to be doing OK!

I wonder what would happen if a JW resident there started forgeting some of the "new truths" and suddenly thought Jesus was his mediator again. Would they DF him and throw his elderly ass out into the street?

I heard they built one of these facilities just outside Toronto, but I'd be hesitent to let my JW mother go there. They probably wouldn't let me visit her.

    Englishman,

The intentions of those trying to do this are very good. But I wouldn't be surprized if Brooklyn tries to put it down........just like they put down everything else that well intentioned dubs try to do to help their fellow believers.

Yes......there are some good hearted dubs in the world but thier loyalty to Brooklyn takes precedence over love and kindness.

    Englishman,

Thank you for this information and site. I'd wondered if any such facilities existed anywhere and had never heard of any in the U.S.

I don't think the WTS would make much of a fuss over this kind of undertaking, (no pun intended), as they would be happy to have folks that would keep the aging ones and their money as close to the cult as possible. The org has already done a great job of filling folks with fear and a home such as this is certain to perpetuate the thought that going elsewhere, the world is gonna get ya! They state that a staff of only JW's is "absolutely necessary" to "keep oneself without spot from the world."

My dad's Dr. had told us it would be good if he would check out some facilities, like retirement homes as there are several very nice ones locally. Well, you know who lives in those places: Worldly ones. O.K., run an ad and get a roommate for more companionship with a live-in friend. Nope, it would end up being a worldly one. Live with your daughter, me - no way, she stopped attending meetings.

One morning at 2 a.m. at my dad's house, his PO and I had an interesting conversation on this subject of my dad not being able to go live in any kind of a home and be cared for and surrounded by " ungodly, worldly ones." I tried to impress upon him the seriousness of the problem with the aging ones who have been fed this crap about everyone but JW's being wicked, bad influences, demonized or whatever. The discussion went nowhere quick as he tried to shut me down by saying, "well, how old is he now? He won't live much longer."

He didn't, as in hopelessness and despair, he killed himself a few months later. In any case, I have to be glad that if a person is going to follow the mandates of the WTS till death, they at least now have a choice of this kind of facility to reside in.

I notice that they show this as the "Aims & Objectives":

The Jah-Jireh homes have been established and are run wholly and solely to give accommodation and care to those members of the community of Jehovah's Witnesses who are in need of residential home care at the time in their life when they need others to care for them.

The objective of this care is to provide surroundings and an environment in which our brothers and sisters will feel loved and looked after in a theocratic home which is run for their benefit and staffed only by younger members of the community of Jehovah's Witnesses. This staffing provided only by Jehovah's Witnesses is absolutely necessary for those times when consolation and spiritual encouragement are necessary to care for the residents. We operate nursing and residential homes for the elderly and those infirm.

I wonder how this goes in the UK? How do they offer employment that is restricted to employing JWs only? That would be against the discrimination laws in Australia. How does that go in the UK? Anyone know?

Seems to me that the JWs are making ``lemons out of lemonade" here; they've turned a monument to the bankruptcy of their promises to several gullible generations of dubbies that ``MIllions Now Living Will Never Die!" and a troubling suggestion that the very existence of such a care facility is necessitated by the failure of younger JWs to shoulder their scriptural responsibility to care for their elderly, into an asset generator!

    Ozzie,

    Maybe they're volunteers?

Also, I do know that they're very selective as to whom they will accept. It's generally confined to the more legendary dubs such as ex circuit people etc.

My Mum was told last year that she would be qualified to go there whenever the time came, in view of her 50+ years of service.

Be interesting as to how they view a DF'd apostate when he calls to visit his Mum!

I must say that this is actually a good idea for the reasons mentioned above. Also, the elders and most members of the congregation won't care for the elderly since they're too busy on the WT treadmill. I'm guessing those who work in these homes take a break from the treadmill and let their natural human decency come out.

I know 2 girls who worked in a local Jah-Jirah home, both dubs, both got paid for it, both started there at 16 and worked there whilst they pioneered.

As far as I see it, they offer employment to 16 year olds and encourage them to pioneer rather than attain any qualifications.
