Actually, I'm not sure. I never sat down and compared the two, and now I no longer have the abridged edition, having given it to DocBob when he visited this past summer. It was marked "abridged," however, so I guess something was missing.
I have a Ninth printing, September 1963 edition which I believe is the unabridged addition as it does not say it is an abridged edition.
I started reading a few years ago but never finished it. My parents had it for years before I acquired it from them. I dont know if my parents ever read it but they had it in their possession all the while they were JWs which was many years. I was really surprised they had it in their house all those years.

Probably so. I think the only abridged edition was the small paperback that was sold during the 1970's and 1980's. I believe that the trade paperback that's now in print is also unabridged.

Thanks for the reply. I didnt realize that it was still being printed until just recently.

Well, guess what? I was wrong - the trade paperback edition now in print is, in fact, an abridged edition too. The listing at amazon.com is very specific about that...
