The 25 to 44 year age group takes the biggest drop in both male and female. 54,940 to 44,88515 to 24 was pretty stable in both male and female.
That makes sense, since young ones are forced to stay in the religion and it is hard to leave the religion when you live with your parents. I suspect 24 to be about the age when most people become entirely independant.
I am sure that the WTS must KNOW that they are in jeopardy of losing the young ones. They are attacking it at the other end as well by getting the old-timers to donate $$$ in their wills etc. to the Society. Credits cards? Sure - why not run yourself into debt to contribute to the WTS - you might not have to pay that credit card bill if the end comes soon!

Note that the biggest drop is in the 0-14 year age group, many of which would be the children of the 25-44 year age group.
It is easy to argue that the most worrying drop for the WTBTS comes once the kids are not living under their parents roof.....
.....and they are taking their children with them.
Off on a tangent regarding the Societies warnings and harsh discipline with regard to reading anti-JW (translate apostate) literature or visiting web sites of the same nature. A thinking person's first thought should be "what is it they are afraid of me knowing". The next thing should be to go to the forbidden web sites and also read apostate literature in order to arrive at an informed personal opinion. I think that there are many JWs who visit web sites such as this one and even though I don't know who they are I respect them the more for doing so.
Truth is not afraid of "light". Darkness (the mental kind) is an ally of those who are afraid of the real truth, which is facts. In my opinion, anyone who refuses to examine all sides of any issue (religious or otherwise) is either stupid or just plain doesn't care!

Actually, you won't have to worry about anything like this. Armageddon is coming any minute now. Its right around the corner. By the time these kids have had a chance to consider their decision, birds will be eating them. If they arn't part of the WTBTS now, they'll be dead for sure.

I already see in the congregation the young people behaving just like being a JW is like being in any other religion. You know, they're nice and civil but not fanatics about it.
This sort of behavior is refreshing. It means the future of the WTBTS is more bearable.
These are the people that will bring such reforms as no more shunning, and no more disfellowshipping of individuals, also the using of blood as a matter of opinion not to be judged.
