Did God really create the mosquito? Or, was it Satan?

Schizm, I have actually given up getting a logical progression from you. As far as I can tell, your entire belief system is based on, "because the Bible says so." You gave an example of something cursed because the bible says so. I gave another. My next step in the logical progression is, if this is true, is there a certain percentage of the current world population, permanently cursed because of Canaan? If not, your "because the bible says so" is full of holes.

Calling Mark Twain a fool does not make him one. Claiming I am ignorant means nothing. You are exposing your underbelly.

P.S. You never did get back to me whether an inanimate object can be "evil". I say no, because the object itself cannot "sin". A sentient being must use it. I imagine you are still scouring the bible for an example of an "evil" object.

...Aren't birthdays inherently evil? The Bible (supposedly) says so. Birthdays are not sentient beings.

    I like your questions, jgnat!

I guess I mistakenly thought that you accepted the Bible as truth. Now I see that you don't. But for those who do, the fact that "the Bible says so" proves to be sufficient in many cases.

Calling Mark Twain a fool does not make him one.

The usage of the word "fool" was of your doing not mine. But if I may borrow YOUR expression ("fool"), Mark Twain was indeed a FOOL. Anyone who claims otherwise is even a bigger fool. My reason for saying it is explained up above.

I use the bible as my guide. A review of my past threads should make that clear. I do, however, use my God-given brain to apply logic to bible principles. I do not obey blindly, like a fool who flips the bible open and reads, "Abraham offered up his son as a sacrifice", and then, "Go and do thou so likewise".

Scripture balances scripture, and all should be summed up in love God, and love thy neighbour. If I blindly follow a flipped open bible verse, but have not love, I have failed to follow God's underlying principles.

What is the foundation of your faith?

Screw "birthdays"! Also, screw mosquitos, ticks, AND Mawk Train. Anybody feel up to the task? I'll bet you don't have the slightest idea of the REAL reason for which the WTS discourages the celebration of birthdays. Hint: It is NOT because deaths happened on those 2 Biblical references that are commonly pointed to by the WTS.

By the way, Kenneson made an AWESOME point. I am still chewing on that one.

The analogy I use to imagine God creating the earth and all on it, is like a fine craftsman making a beautiful top. It's inner gears and workings make figures dance and spin inside it's transparent dome. When he is finished, he calls it "good" and sets it spinning. He does not interfere with the top as it runs through it's dance, as he wants to see how it all unfolds from beginning to end. To stop the top and tinker with it would interrupt the joy he has in it's creation.

I think God takes no joy over viruses that only destroy and add no beauty to the world. For whatever reason, however, I do not see Him interfering with how our world is unfolding.

    Yet.

Thanks, bebu! I enjoyed composing those questions, too!

For schizm, what is the male equivalent of PMS? http://www.nizkor.org/features/fallacies/

    Description of Ad Hominem

Translated from Latin to English, "Ad Hominem" means "against the man" or "against the person."

An Ad Hominem is a general category of fallacies in which a claim or argument is rejected on the basis of some irrelevant fact about the author of or the person presenting the claim or argument. Typically, this fallacy involves two steps. First, an attack against the character of person making the claim, her circumstances, or her actions is made (or the character, circumstances, or actions of the person reporting the claim). Second, this attack is taken to be evidence against the claim or argument the person in question is making (or presenting). This type of "argument" has the following form:

    1. Person A makes claim X.
    2. Person B makes an attack on person A.
    3. Therefore A's claim is false.

The reason why an Ad Hominem (of any kind) is a fallacy is that the character, circumstances, or actions of a person do not (in most cases) have a bearing on the truth or falsity of the claim being made (or the quality of the argument being made).

    Example of Ad Hominem

    1. Bill: "I believe that abortion is morally wrong."
Dave: "Of course you would say that, you're a priest."
Bill: "What about the arguments I gave to support my position?"
Dave: "Those don't count. Like I said, you're a priest, so you have to say that abortion is wrong. Further, you are just a lackey to the Pope, so I can't believe what you say."

Of course NeonMadman would disagree with your having said that. According to Neon, God himself has put all the governments in place--past, present, and future--and thus has been interfering with how our world is unfolding for a long long time.

Perhaps you need to review it yourself, Puss.
