I read many "apostate" books before I left the "truth". Mentally, I was drifting away for years. But I do think that the internet really made it EASY to see all the evidence that overwhelmingly showed JWs do not have the "truth".....Was the 'net instrumental in getting you out??

No...............I read and talked with my husband.

It was afterwards that the internet helped me recover.

Sometimes I think that reading anti-JW materials are a symptom of a person on the edge of leaving... not so much a cause of someone leaving.

Mulan, you're fortunate that you were able to converse with your husband. Imagine if you didn't get help to see things from him first!

I had found my way out at the christian bookstore under "cults". It was there I saw a crapload of information against the witnesses I decided to look at. They were out of COC and I ordered it there. I was DFed anyways so I figured I had nothing to lose.

It was this site however that sparked my intrest into examining whether the bible was gods word or not.

You buncha damn bad association, heathen apostate bastards went and ruined me.

Hi Gumby! When I saw you post here---I thought you were going to tell me I posted this question before or something....I did the same thing you did---going into the "Christian" bookstores undercover (for me).

I had known for years that something did not sit well with me. But the internet was what helped me piece together all the reasons WHY it didn't make any sense, and helped me eliminate the mis-guided guilt I felt about not believing it. It helped me find peace, along with reading COC and ISOCF.

Elderly people have much less of a chance to get out of the organization because they cannot easily view (by means of the internet) the obvious contradictions of the Watchtower. Being in your home or at work and surfing can be a very eye-opening experience.

I forgot to add something, so instead of editing, I'll just post again.

I wanted to say that Randys site as well as Magreggor Ministries site were extremely helpful in my recovering process. Randys site led me to H20 and then here........and I'm STILL recovering.

Yes, the internet has had a profound impact on Jehovah's Witnesses and ex'es.......this site in paticular. ..........and I mean that in a good way.

Damn....had to edit my spelling anyway.

nope..i quit going because of the hypocrisy, for being treated like i was invisible, for shutting down because i was just so overwhelmed with what i had to do. i was exhausted from busting my ass.(mid nineties)

didnt start reading on the internet till about a year ago? maybe not that long ago. what its provided me with is being able to talk to people who relate to what i've been thru and helped aleviate the sense of impending doom and the isolation i felt i was in.
