Mmmm...Maker's Mark is good. Woodford Reserve does what it's supposed to but kinda a little too smokey for me. Catchthis- you can talk about any whiskey you want. Codeblue-You should carry a flask around with you -and 1:45 is a fine time for a cocktail...

I was living in an RAF Mess back in the 60's and made the mistake of complaining to the bar tender that you couldn't get bourbon in the UK. He began to rumage through his cabinets and came up with a very dusty bottle of Four Roses that hadn't seen the light of day since WW II. He had gone to so much trouble that I didn't have the heart to tell him that Four Roses is about the worst bourbon ever made (except for Old Methusala) so I had him pour us both one. I never did learn to drink Scotch whiskey but the Vodka and Gin were plentiful so I managed to survive. The ale was really good.

I enjoy an 'occasional' drop of Wild Turkey - got absolutely smashed on it on my first Stag night !!!
If I want to enjoy a bourbon, I like Jack Daniels on ice... but my favourite whisky is Poit Dhubh (pronounced Potch Goo) - non chill filtered single malt. Absolute heaven!!!!

I received a bottle of Single Barrel Jack Daniels - now I can hardly drink Wild Turkey, regular Jacks. Jim Beam is my fave bourbon. Straight up.

Didn't know so many people had problems with Wild Turkey...never had a problem with it myself. Codeblue-Glad I could be of assistance. Naw, you're not bad...just finding little pleasures. I'm serious about the flask--you could get a small one that fits right in your pocket. Nobody would ever know. You could even get it engraved "codeblue."

I'm afraid I would have messed that one up for sure! Never heard of it or the one Eman mentioned. We have an OK selection in the liquor stores here but none of the ones I can totally screw up the pronunciation...
Right now my liquor cabinet consists of a bottle of Laphroiag and Glenlivet, both purchased duty free in Canada.

I reckon that most the people who name / spell these things had already had too much of them to drink beforehand!!

I've never been one much for whiskey or bourbon. I know wines much better. But now and again, I really get in the mood for a Crown Royal and 7up. I've tried Jack and Jim Beam and they're just a little too "puckery" for me. I love the sweetness of Canadian whiskey though. Anytime I go to a sushi bar, Crown and seven are great - it compliments the fish and ginger perfectly!
