WHAT DO YOU BASE YOUR PERSONAL OPINION ON?

Everybody seems to have opinions. Often they are strong emotionally based opinions.

What do you base your opinions on? Do you expect people to respect your opinion?

Who do you respect for their opinions?

My opinons are mostly based on personal observation, personal experince, research both historical and in the present.

I also try to determine what the future effect of my opinons will have on me and the poeple that I come in contact with and most importantly my loved ones.

I respect just about everyone opinons. I hope for people to respect mine. But, you know how that goes sometimes. I respected my grandmother for her opinions. My mother and all the members of my immediate family.

It really doesn't matter to me.

Who do you respect for their opinions?

I respect others opinions because no matter what happens, their opinion will not effect nor change my lifestyle. I just do what I think is right.

I make a concerted effort not to have opinions. Being a naturally opinionated barstard, I fail alot... but I do try.

I believe there is a word for people who insist loudly that others should "respect their opinion". I believe that that word is "idiot". JMO, of course ;-) I respect the fact that we humans are prone to opinions, but I most respect humans who keep their opinions minimal and reasonable.

If something is not subjective, then I do not believe I have an inherent "right to my opinion" on the matter. If something is not subjective, then I should either gain knowledge about it, or withold forming strong belief.

If something is truly subjective, then of course there is only opinion to be had.

This is the definition of opinion that I am speaking of: # A belief or conclusion held with confidence but not substantiated by positive knowledge or proof: ?The world is not run by thought, nor by imagination, but by opinion? (Elizabeth Drew).

That was very eloquently said. I have very similar opinions but I would not necessarily have said it quite so well.

But, in short, if my opinion, after having formed it, is not based on an objective viewpoint, to me is not worth sharing. Why should anyone else have an opinion thrown at them that is nothing more than ONE person's viewpoint?

Of course I just wrote this while listening to U2's song "ONE" so my opinion, at this time, may be based on the words of an evil rock band.
