Ditto on Kitties. Or even a 3rd party. Case: having an affair when one or both are involved with others. Wont harm the other if they don't know, right? Wrong. The affair isn't necessarily sinfull, it's the harm it causes, intentional or not.

Others: theft, murder (homocide), abuse, neglect, et.al.

Accidental? What caused the accident? Drugs, alcohol, talking on the cell (inattention). I'm not just talking auto accidents.

    2 cents worth

PS just because "god" forgives us, what about amends to the ones we have harmed? What about self forgiveness? True dispensation requires action, except where to do so would harm them or others.

One thing I could never understand is the idea of ?willful sin.? Isn?t any sin willful by definition?

For example, fornication: a guy couldn?t very well say that his pants just happened to accidentally fell down to his ankles (faulty dome and zipper), and a woman, who just happened to be in the same room in close proximity, just happened to have the same mechanical problems with her pants (same faulty dome and zipper?both shop at Wal-Mart, I guess), and the guy just happened to slip on a banana peel, and he just happened to slip and fall forward onto the woman, knocking her backwards, tripping her over a foot cushion that just happened to be placed behind her, and he just happened to be suffering from an erection right at that time (from having just accidentally taken a Viagra pill which was mistaken for vitamin C), and, wouldn?t you know, as he fell forward against her, their bodies were perfectly aligned so that his erection just happened to penetrate somewhere where it ought not to have as his fall took him and her toward the floor, and the sudden shock of the whole slip-and-fall incident (G*ddam banana peels?why did God create them?) just happened to cause him to have a sudden and acute muscle spasm in his Cowper?s glands and seminal vesicles, thereby causing an untimely ?release? . . . no, a guy couldn?t very well give that excuse, could he?

The sudden and accidental lowering of the pants, slip-and-fall on the banana peel, falling toward a woman who is facing him perfectly aligned, her tripping backwards, etc., etc. . . . No sir! I don?t think so. That would be no accident, for sure. (That?s almost as ?convenient? as the primordial protein-rich soup and lightning bolt scenario in Darwin?s evolution theory.) Yep, in the above theoretical example, that would be judged a willful sin (not to mention a sh^tty excuse, similar to one of Duckman?s nonsensical tirades?you know, that semi-adult cartoon Duckman, with the voice of Jason Alexander, who played George Kastanza on Seinfeld).

So, if fornication is a willful sin?i.e., not a mechanical ?mistake??and any of the other ?sins? like gluttony, smoking, drunkenness, idolatry, etc. are also willful sins (again, not ?mechanical mistakes? like dropping a baby or backing a car into your friend?s house), then what the hell is a sin that is not willful?

In other words, is there any such thing as a non-willful sin? Would that be an oxymoron? (I didn?t mean to slip on that banana peel!) Assuming that our own brain neurons are attached to and control our muscles, then how could we do anything that we have not willed? Is that even logically possible?

(Sorry for being in such a hyperbolic, Monty Python mood. I didn?t mean to be. )

This is the way it works:

    Jesus said "Love your enemy"

Satan was Jesus' enemy, so now they are best buddies. Without Satan looking for trouble, sin is not an issue. It is all a clean slate.

    Wasn't that easy?

The Watchtower says that 'sin' is missing the mark ... being off target from perfection, that is.

The Bible says that 'sin' is transgression against the Law ... the old law of Moses, that is.

Under the law of love in the Christian era, God forgives our sins by not holding us under judgment to the old Law of Moses, provided we have faith in Jesus Christ as our savior. We still transgress God's laws, but since they are not in force and Jesus sacrafice covers any possible transgression, then we are off the hook.

What is transgression against the Law? Here they are in a nutshell:

Ex. 20:3-17 defines God's law, and thus transgression against it is sin:

    1. Thou shalt have no other gods before me.
    2. Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth: Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them: for I the LORD thy God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate me, And shewing mercy unto thousands of them that love me, and keep my commandments.
    3. Thou shalt not take the name of the LORD thy God in vain; for the LORD will not hold him guiltless that taketh his name in vain.
    4. Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy . Six days shalt thou labour , and do all thy work: But the seventh day is the sabbath of the LORD thy God: in it thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, thy manservant, nor thy maidservant, nor thy cattle, nor thy stranger that is within thy gates: For in six days the LORD made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and rested the seventh day: wherefore the LORD blessed the sabbath day, and hallowed it.
    5. Honour thy father and thy mother: that thy days may be long upon the land which the LORD thy God giveth thee.
    6. Thou shalt not kill .
    7. Thou shalt not commit adultery .
    8. Thou shalt not steal .
    9. Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbour.
    10. Thou shalt not covet thy neighbour's house, thou shalt not covet thy neighbour's wife, nor his manservant, nor his maidservant, nor his ox, nor his ass, nor any thing that is thy neighbour's.
