Student of the Week: Jennifer Kunz

Toledo Technology Academy
Jennifer Kunz, a senior from Toledo, will attend Owens Community College where she plans to earn a degree in diagnostic medical sonography. She enjoys science and lab and carries a 3.8 grade point average.

Jennifer is a member of the National Honor Society. She placed third in the Skills USA Vica for Robots in Automation and third place at the Science Olympiad for Robot Ramble.

She is on the yearbook and newspaper staff, and has worked with the Bridge Blazers, studying with the civil engineers to learn about the I-280 Maumee River Crossing project. She volunteers at the Toledo Humane Society and spreads the teachings of the Bible as a Jehovah's Witness.

"Jennifer is an exemplary young woman," said counselor Lynne McAbier. "She takes her school studies seriously, yet finds time to be involved in extracurricular activities and volunteer her time. Jennifer will be successful in her future endeavors. We are very proud of her."

Jennifer is the daughter of John and Beth Kunz.

Clubs: Students with similar interests may want to share these interests as members of school clubs. Often, however, these clubs serve mainly for social activities. And it has been noted that sharing such activities with certain groups of students often leads to immoral conduct. In view of this possibility, we feel that careful consideration should be given before joining a school club.

Important questions that Witness youths and their parents would consider are these: Are the club?s activities limited to school hours? Do they come under close school supervision? Will belonging to the club require time after school that would be better spent in family or congregational activities? In the final analysis, it is the responsibility of Witness parents to decide what clubs or school organizations, if any, they will permit their children to join.

I dont see why not... the yearbook experience will lead to a wonderful Bethel appointment later on.

She just cant have fun or get laid while she is at it.

I was on the school paper in the 7th/8th grade. I got a bit of grief about it; one brother told me I should use it as a forum to praise Jehovah's name. Not sure what the Society's official stance is on this stuff.

I was on the Yearbook committee, but I had to do all my stuff during school hours. so it was not labeled as extracurricular. Blech

Sidenote: My 17 year old brother has been in the marching band for 2 years in HS!!! He even went to band camp!!!

hmmm...NO. That's what I was told when I asked my mom. But I guess things could be changing? Or this girls parents give hefty donations? or her daddy's an elder so she can do whatever the hell she wants...

GASP!!! She Volunteers her time at the Humane Society, instead of spending that time preaching in the field! I bet she will be counceled about that...

I was never allowed to be a part of any of those types of things in School, but maybe it is a "Conscience" thing...

The WTBTS might as well saved all the paper they wasted on the School brochure: their response to every activity except meetings and door-knocking is ``NO!"

By the way, Jennifer and her parents are part of an increasing segment of the dub population that's vexing the GB by opting to tune out their tiresome rhetoric rather than resort to polemics

I was on the school newspaper in High School, but it was considered an alternate English course. I had to do some work on it after school hours but that was just on rare occasions. I also wrote an article about the origins of Christmas and brought praise to Jehovah's Name.
