This is from a recent poll by Populus limited. Only on the question of gay marriage is the UK more disapproving than the US.

    That's interesting.

I don't know about the UK, but I think 10 years ago we would have seen lower church attendance and higher liberal attitudes toward abortion. Gay union, yeah, maybe more liberal then, too, but I don't think so.

The growing conservative populous in this country is of great concern to me.

    Peace

I think there is now a huge gulf between half of the US at least and the UK

It would not surprise me if some politcal party cottoned on to this - declare that we should be closer to and part of Europe and distance ourselves from the US. They would get my vote.

    All hail the mighty Euro

I used to be but I think Britains place is in Europe and it should be either all or nothing.

With Britain in the Euro would be by far the most traded and used currency and Europre the dominate economic power.

    Why not?

It was just tried, and Kerry lost.

i hope britain joines the euro!

it is time that this continent including britain (!) grows together.

the euro is a stable currency and fears that briatin might loose its identity is not realistic.

regarding the moral values: who says going to church has anything to do with morality?

But America is England's child! I know we don't call as often as we should and we aren't as well behaved as our goodie two-shoes brother Canada. Who by the way has never had a girlfriend, (I'm just saying ...) -- Homer Simpson.

I wonder how much of this difference is down to Europe experiencing two world wars?

The main migration to the US at the moment is Hispanic (OK some Eastern European and some Muslim) all these groups are Roman Catholic or Muslim who do NOT believe in abortion -- demographics suggests the US will get more conservative and not less
