Rubbish. This article wouldnt have been on here if the Man who was shot wasnt a Witness.

true, but so what? Should we ignore the times when they don't make such a good example? We talk about violence, physical and mental abuse involving Jehovah's Witnesses all the time. This is no different IMO. It also brings up discussion about gun law, which is relevant as well.

    Sincerely,

    District Overbeer

This is so sad! I'm curious what Mrs. Coleman-Davis' side of the story will be, if she survives.

"Just because one guy had a gun doesn't make him worse than the other guy. If the other guy killed him with a pipe would that have been better somehow?"

Bloody hell,is that the attitude in your Country? No wonder theres such a Gun problem there! So many Guns ,no wonder a bit of Road rage turns in to a Killing.Four shots fired?Seems to be above and beyond self defense.

Funny how most here are taking the side of the Shooter. But i suppose the Man who died was only a Jw eh.So much hate.

We have a thing here in the US called the Constitution. In this Constitution it gives the citizens the right to own and bear arms. Based on this right, my attitude of "Just because one guy had a gun doesn't make him worse than the other guy" is justified. Owning and possesing a gun does not make you a bad guy. Using a gun to defend yourself from attack also does not make you a bad guy.

I've said more than once that I don't know what happened. I'm not taking any side. I don't care about their religious affliation. I can see either weapon wielding person as the attacker. All I'm saying is that it is possible that the gun-toting guy was defending himself against a guy who came at him with a pipe.

Funny how so many instantly assume that the guy with the gun had to be the bad guy, just because he had a gun.

re: the US Constitution and "the right to bear arms"....

Does that only refer to "fire" arms (ie, guns) or could one "arm" oneself with other weaponry, like a baseball bat or lead pipe, perhaps? Could it also be extrapolated to having the right to train in the martial arts, in effect making one's own hands "lethal weapons"? (If you use your hands as weapons, could you claim to be "armed"? ok, ok, bad pun! Let the groaning begin!)

If the gun wielding man enjoys the range, and felt threatened by both the man AND woman, he could have squeezed off 4 rounds in 2 to 3 seconds. She didn't necessarily need to continue the attack; if that's what happened.

    Poor kid.

couple of points i dont see addressed :

firstly, about the pipe weilding maniac-

    Davis, a 39-year-old postal worker

maybe humorous, but his having a friggin pipe so handy raises my doubts.

as for the defender having a concealed weapon-

Eichstedt, who owns the Hoffbrau Tavern & Grill on Santa Fe Drive.

perfectly reasonable for a bar owner to carry a gun. he went about it legally, responsibly, IAW federal and state regulations. no charges were pressed, and in todays world, you know the police will try to fail as conservatively as possible if there were any question.

im amazed at peoples closemindedness. why does the victim always have to be the loser? in this case, it seems apparent that though he came out alive and will survive with little more than a bruised head and dinged car door, he was obviously the victim of the attack.

i think this worked out perfectly. the crazed maniac is no longer a threat to anyone that wouldnt be able to defend himself, while the wife gets to live on as living testimony of how not to act. and the bar owner has a great story to attract new customers ;p

I for one hope the "truth" of this matter comes to light.

As a concealed weapon carrier (yes I have a permit) ......if anyone comes at me with a pipe or anything else........and I can't get away..........I will.........if I'm able........pull the damn thing out and shoot them to protect my own hide. If they die in the process.........well tough shit! People should think before attacking someone.

I think I recall a story from about 2000 years ago where a follower of Christ pulled out a sword and in the process of protecting himself and others........he cut someones ear off. And no! I do not buy the WT idea that weapons were carried only to protect oneself from the wild animals. More like two legged animals! Try carrying a sword on the street today and see what happens.
