I think it's time Sven was sent packing. He has been utterley USELESS as a manager.

Yes, we do not loose too often (for still, far too often it seems) because he's so defensive but this just seems to be to protect his own job.

England will never win a tournament with him in charge IMO. He is too defensive, too conservative and the team plays predictably with no imagination or flair.

Yeah, but unfortunately we are stuck with him till at least 2006.The FA couldnt afford to get rid of him.

After then,im guessing it will be mclaren.

    Hijacked another thread, have we?

Nope, I'm quite serious. See above I posed the question about friendlies.

Ya see, I think t was last year that Australia whipped you Brits in an international at the Boleyn Ground in London. Remember that? Yet I believe we had posts along the lines "it was only a friendly",

    So......Spain v England was only a (very un)friendly??

Erm, we try not to remember things like that! Getting whipped at cricket, rugby and swimming for so many years by you guys has been bad enough. Now soccer!

At least we won the Rugby Union World Cup - and beat you guys in the process! AND, we're getting better at cricket..................

If i could pick up on Simon's point about dear Sven and give a perspective from downunder:

It surprised me that he kept on in the job after the last World Cup. I would have expected himm to do "the decent thing" and resign. Falling on one's sword is an ancient code of practice. apparently they were more chivalrous in times of yore.

I don't understand how him staying in the job will do anything to improve England's performances in the future. I mean, what will change? The players??? Give me a break!

It'd be interesting to see what was in his job specs - surely he's failed and should go.

Mind you, he's not the only soccer manager that applies to, eh?

Cheers, Ozzie (always upside down class)
