The truth is, as JWs, we were well well trained in learning how to effectively lie. We were taught that telling someone misinformation or outrightly saying something untrue------was not in itself a sin----if it was told to someone that had no reason to be told the truth. For example, if an "opposer" asked us questions about "our brothers or the congregation", we could use "theocratic strategy", which is lying and tell them we know nothing that could help them out. In court cases, instructions are given as to how to lie to a judge regarding our religion---so that we could still keep our kids and they could still go to meetings. Elders will lie if they believe they are protecting the interests of the organization. All of that is acceptable and all of that produces families and friends of sneaky liars-----all for the glorification of Jehovah God Himself!

    So true!

Another side effect to their habitual lying, and knowing that they are lying, is the fact that they themselves become paranoid that others will/are lying to them, which causes them more emotional problems, fear, and anxiety. They can lie through their teeth, and feel comfortable about it, but once they feel that they are being lied to, even if they aren't, they freak out. And people wonder why they have so many emotional problems...

You're right! JWs believe even the news is controlled by the Devil. The news lies to us and tries to defame God's good name.

Notorious liers have difficulties with distinguishing reality from fiction. At that point, they no longer feel guilty about lying to others. As a JW I was really best at fooling myself. It helped me mitigate my doubts about lying to others.

I know that it's been easy to rationalize the truth vs. a fib because of JW indoctrination.

It all boils down to"Who is the father of the lie"..When It`s in their best interests,WBTS would have us believe it`s Jehovah?.. "Jehovah the Devil?"..Now how twisted is that?..LOL!...OUTLAW

Well, what would you expect from a group that started out it's life with Russell's version of truth as expounded in the first Watchtower.

    "WHAT IS TRUTH?"

This question is one which every sincere Christian should ask and seek to answer. We

should learn to love and value truth for its own sake; to respect and honor it by owning

and acknowledging it wherever we find it and by whomsoever presented. A truth

presented by Satan himself is just as true as a truth stated by God.

Perhaps no class of people are more apt to overlook this fact than the Christian. How

often do they in controversy overlook and ignore truth presented by their opponents.

This is particularly the case when arguing with an infidel. They feel at perfect liberty to

dispute everything he says on religious subjects. This is not the correct principle. Many

infidels are honest--as anxious to speak and believe the truth as are Christians--and if in

converse with them we ignore truths which they may advance, we not only fail to

convince them of our truths, but put an end to all hope of reaching them; for our failure

to admit the evident truth which they advance begets in them contempt for the one who

is not honest enough to admit one truth because he does not see how it can be reconciled

to another. Accept truth wherever you find it, no matter what it contradicts,

and rely for ability to afterwards harmonize it with others upon "The Spirit of truth,

which shall guide you into all truth," as Jesus promised.

Truth, like a modest little flower in the wilderness of life, is surrounded and almost

choked by the luxuriant growth of the weeds of error. If you would find it you must be

ever on the lookout. If you would see its beauty you must brush aside the weeds of error

and the brambles of bigotry. If you would possess it you must stoop to get it.

Be not content with one flower of truth. Had one been sufficient there would have been

no more. Gather ever, seek for more.

Weave them together as a garland --"Bind them on thee as a bride doeth." "Bind them

about thy neck; write them upon the table of thine heart: so shalt thou find favor and

good understanding in the sight of God and man." Prov. 3:3.
