It was a rare thing to see people become JWs, unless they were raised in it. Usually the people who accepted "bible studies" were vunerable due to some crisis in their lives. Once their crisis was over they wouldn't come to meetings any more. I didn't see any pattern regarding age groups, but I did notice that the people who eventually got baptized had a few things in common.

    They were lonely.
    They didn't have college educations.
    They were often depressed.
    They had recurring personal crisis.

I would say mostly depressed woman. Our territory was in navy housing and alot of the woman would start studying when their husband was out to sea and they were longing for something to do because they stayed home all day with their children and didn't have alot of adult interaction. Some would come in and be witnesses but most stopped studying once their husbands got back and their lives went back to normal.
