If you ever could explain and comprehend any of the Isaiah or Daniel commentaries, you were pretty smart.

I cringed the one time as an adult I had to tell someone I believed (yeah right) in Adam & Eve.

I can remember being told about a recent talk by the CO that parents must be teaching their children the "whys" of what they believed. I guess many children were saying to their teachers and non-JW classmates:
I can't do that because my parents told me I couldn't or because "I'm a Jehovah's Witness" and then not be able to explain why.
Although raised in a JW family (half anyway), it wasn't until I was 13 or 14 I started studying my WT and really reading the Bible. The rest was parroted from my mother.
The more I studied and researched, the more I realized how little Bible basis there was. I was to explain that Jesus was Michael the archangel; after I studied the material, I told the person that there wasn't enough Bible information to say...my first real departure from WTS doctrine.
Then there was the 2300 days
And the change in the organ transplant doctrine...etc, etc.
I believe that if JWs really studied the Bible rather than the WTS publications, they would start wondering too.

Yep, I sure do. Just tell them to imagine life with no sex, no holiday's, no time for yourself, never being able to make God happy, no education, no "outside" friends...In essence, no life.

I was good at explaining dub theology, but to really know the bible, I was better than the average joe but prolly would pale next to a avid christian.

Could you explain a Witnesses' position on blood?
Sure. I can sum it up in 4 words: they're full of shit.

Exactly Blondie. This is what finally opened my eyes that the WTS was wrong. I picked up my bible and just started reading it all by itself.
My father (an elder) told me I'd never be able to understand the bible without the help of the FDS and their literature. Well - he was wrong. I understood it just fine - and it was clear that the WTS/FDS had taken many things out of context and added to many things that simply weren't in the scriptures.

Translation: Blondie has uttered the year "1919" more times than the combined lifetime usage of the people in most metropolitan areas.

someone once asked me about why jws don't celebrate birthday... i tried to respond, but the arguments were so senseless, that i couldn't respond. she told me, if it's that hard to answer, you don't have to answer. that got me thinking...
