Are blood fractions safer than primary blood components?

Yes they are safer. Pretty much "Fractions" are cooked and differented blood thats been washed in detergent.
Fractions, in the sense that's being discussed in this thread, are not always safer. There are many types of fractions and many different levels of purity. If you're thinking of being treated with one of those products, you really need to check out the specific product and discuss it with a hematologist.

Fractions may be purer in some sense than say, packed red cells. However, keep in mind that each unit of a fraction is made up of blood cells from 1000s of different donors. There are always going to be new diseases discovered. The pasteurization process is effective in killing the bugs we know about, but we can't prove it's effective in killing the undiscovered bugs.
