Christmas Lights...

I tell you what, Marilyn...my wife is a light junkie. She absolutely loves lights! As soon as Christmas is over, she can't wait til next year. She has lights all around the inside of our home too. So next year will be our third Christmas, and I think we'll go all out. Our homeowner's association has a contest each Christmas for the best decorated house. We'll see if I can crack the top 5 next year....

Whoo woo. That sounds fun. Our neighborhood is mainly people in our age group now, whose kids have all grown up and moved away, and most do very little on the outside of their homes. Some do nothing at all. The next street over though, is pretty awesome.

Our inside is pretty decorated. I buy more lights and Dave looks at me perplexed and asks if I have to decorate every space. I say "yes".

This year I bought two buildings (Christmas village ones) and have them on a small buffet. Again, he is perplexed and wonders why I have to put something on every surface. Hmmm. I don't know why..............I just do. Next year I am getting more buildings and people, and trees and will make a village somewhere in this house.

It sounds like you have quite the display at your home. Tell Dave to get you a digital camera for Christmas so you can share photos. The wife is exactly the same way. She finds something for Christmas that she likes and she buys it. I think Christmas must be more of a female holiday than male... You have a pm waiting....

    LDH,

I put some up yesterday, and the wreath on the door. We just got a real noble fir wreath for indoors to make the house smell great

I love that evergreen scent... I've been missing it this year, because of our artificial tree, but the indoor wreath idea sounds like the cure! Looking forward to your photos...

    Travis,

eh make Steve come over and help w/the mischief..eheh

That sounds like a party plan. We might even actually get around to putting up some lights! Kind of a spirited barn-raising event...

    Mulan,

Steve: Guess I had better be more careful what I am wearing as I walk around the house, eh?

    Yup.

    jimbob,

Wonderful display! When you drive home from work after dark, 'round that last corner, and see your home aglow, do you get a nice lift from that, too? BTW, I've got an electrician friend who would be able to help you with your panel, if needed.

    Merry Christmas!

Okay...we're back from dinner. Thanks for the electrical tip, Steve. I'm actually okay installing a new breaker in the electrical panel. I did it for our hot tub. But if I have any doubts, I'll hit you up for his number. When we were still in the borg, there were times I needed electrical help, and we all know how many brothers in this area are electricians. But I sure had a hard time getting any help...including getting help from my brother-in-law, who's a journeyman electrician. It was like pulling teeth to get him to help me. But if I paid him $$, then he was more eager. Gotta love the "brotherly affection" they have for one another. (especially when there's $$$ involved)

along with my blow up Santa...

    That's just wrong.

I guess I should be more diligent about turning the lights on before you get home, eh?

I forgot to mention that mine are on a timer, so they come on automatically at dusk and can stay on for 2,4, or 6 hours. I have it set right now for 4. But yes, I do enjoy coming home from work and seeing them on, as well as everybody else's lights that are on. A lot of homes in my neighborhood put up lights, so it's cool driving along the street and seeing so many homes lit up.

I guess I should be more diligent about turning the lights on before you get home, eh?

Yeah, I'd take that as a pretty subtle hint...

I faded (sort of) but moved away from my cong w/o a forwarding address.. so this year I put lights out on our balony.. last year the tree was hidden behind blinds.. but this year it is right next to the sliding glass door with the blinds wide open.. it is a freeing feeling..

My dad (who was never a JW.. and hates the dubs) has so many lights that the whole town drives out to see his display (well all but the dubs.. lol).. when I go home for Christmas, I'll see if I can get some pictures.

Way to go, Sassy! Looking forward to those pics of your Dad's display...

Driving around to see the best light displays has become an annual tradition for us. Last year, we did it while slurpin' eggnog milkshakes... I think we'll keep that up, too.

    Steve
