Greetings everyone. I'm looking for new biographies to give as xmas gifts this year. Anyone have suggestions or ones they have enjoyed recently?

    Sincerely,

    Valis,

I can't help you out this year but next Christmas my autobiography will be available.

I'm writing it for the main reason of it being therapy for me, but hey, you never know, it might catch on.

I just started reading the autobiography of Santa Clause. I found it at Costco and thought it looked interesting. It tells the history of Santa Clause starting in Lycia in the third century.

I really enjoyed the autobiography of Queen Noor of Jordan too. I read it a couple years ago...gave me a totally different perspective on the middle east situation.

I am currently reading the biography of the Bush family, The Family, The Real Story of the Bush Dynasty. It's a really good read, and goes back a few generations to the Walkers and Prescotts too.

I've heard the Bill Clinton one is also really good.

I also read "A MIghty Heart", a biography of sorts, by Marriane Pearl, wife of Daniel Pearl who was killed in Pakistan last year by insurgents. It's a good read too about events leading up to his death.

The one about Queen Noor of Jordan was excellent, and gives you a whole new perspective on the Palestinian situation. She is an American born woman (formerly Lisa Halaby), who married King Hussein about 25 years ago. It is called Leap of Faith.

Another I am reading is called "Founding Mothers", by Cokie Roberts, and is about the women who shaped this country, including Abigail Adams and Mercy Warren (an ancestor of mine) and two or three other very strong women.

I love biographies and have read lots of them.

Dave enjoyed reading the biography of Jay Leno a few years ago, and also the one about the lawyer, Jerry Spence.

    Valis,

I just couldn't get into Sela Ward's "Home Sick". I really did enjoy the story of Donald D'Haene, "Father's Touch". Only problem it's not a very festive book; sad story.

That's the two bios I read this year.

Savage Beauty by Nancy Milford about Edna St. Vincent Millay

Peter the Great by Robert K. Massie - very interesting read, especially if you enjoy history.

I'm about to start a biography about Janis Joplin, one of my favorite dead people.

They did! Thanks so much for helping Flat Stanley in his travels. He didn't raid the "cookie" jar did he?
