I have been wondering, maybe one of the moderators knows,

How does someone start a thread and block certain posters (like ones they'd rather NOT participate) from responding to a particular thread?

Is that even possible? Or do we just leave ourselves open to any and every post and comment on a sensitive issue once it is started?

    Thanks for your help.

You have to have built the board and be named "Simon".

hi yours.. unfortunately, in a public forum its open for any members to respond to any topic. our forum is great in that you DO have to join to respond so that hinders some would be trouble makers from replying. i'll let a moderator respond as to how you can report offensive posts and what steps they can take to delete them.

Sorry, candidlynuts is right. It's a public forum.

You could always start your own small board on www.ezboard.com

You can have 20 members or so, all close friends and post topics and chat. It's nice if you have a family or work group that gets on and everyone catches up without having to send 20 seperate emails.

But on a public board, not possible.

And Yours probably wants me banned from this thread.(hee hee, that was a really dumb joke, wasn't it?)

You could go over to E-watchman and join them. Then you wouldn't get any of this riff raff!

    Whoops! spose to be serious

Unfortunately, you will always have a few argumentative individuals, those that throw one liners into a serious subject, or just plain thread hijackers.

YC, nothing says you have to respond to the foolish comments. Also, if they get out of hand, that is what the moderators are there for, right, mods?

Hijacking threads is bad manners too.

If there were certain people that offend you, couldn't you just politely ask them not to respond. I don't know that's kind of a tricky one. I always though only Simon had those "rights".
