One can find many books and internet sites that make a big deal out of the supposed fact that many attributes and circumstances attributed to Jesus are similar or exact to other deities. They may or may not be true. What does seem to be true is that mankind has seemingly always needed their little deities to adore and worship. For some strange reason we have found it necessary to diminish divine love and presence as some thing outside ourselves.

homme....a few years ago I stumbled upon information like that you posted, I was amazed to learn that not only the Catholic ritual but many fundemental elements of the Jesus story was mirrored in other myths. Religion, like culture in general, evolves from it's predecesors into something that meets current philosophical and political needs. Religions are always changing but usually still bear some resemblance to the cults they sprouted from. This transformation does not happen suddenly (who wants to worship a new god?) nor is it a simple linear copycat process (lets take Mithra and change the name and a few details). It is a rather facinating and complicated mix of emmulation and inspiration. I believe in a god outside, because it appears every morning and shines most every day. It is what keeps everything going on this planet. It's hard to look at directly, without damaging the eyes. Noone has asked for proof that my god exists. I wonder why

You know, I've always said that EVERYthing comes back to the pagans. When the bible said there was nothing new under the son they weren't just jokin! So I say we all just skip the middle and come on back to the pagan way.

For all the ways spirituality is different it remains so much sameness. If people would just remember this there could be ever so much more harmony in life. No need to have a holy war or go proseletizing, or claim to have the true path, we all just have a different view of the path, it all leads to the divine.
