I grew up in Timmins, Ontario, Canada. We rented an arena there Christmas Day for the whole day. We played hockey, broomball, ringette, etc. all day. It was great!! Some of you guys went out in service on Christams Day? OUCH!! That would really suck, for you and the homeowner." Bummer!

The best thing about going door to door on Christmas was when we had particularly insulting Watchtowers with titles like, "Should You Believe in Christmas?"

Also, what a bummer to go door to door when all the usual break meeting places are closed.

    Oh dear, bad memories!

We did the xmas day thing a couple of times.......Once in the lovely seaside town of Whitby and another in Ireland. I must say thoght the Irish dealt us a better response and were probably amazed thet we would go to the effort of going out to them in such bleak weather conditions. However I have it on good authority that the territory was rarely covered, consequently the respose was probably down to surprise rather than annoyance.

I just got off the phone with my mom and I could have been mistaken, but they are having a Cicuit Assembly on Xmas day...how cheesy is that?

My Dad would always force us to go out to service on any holiday. In Hamilton and in the Niagara Area people are usually apathetic but they can get quite flustered on the holidays. One particular Christmas, in my teens, this one guy reemed my Dad out something nasty in Italian. (I picked up some nice phrases) Shamed my Dad so much that he didn't go out again on xmas day for years afterward. The last couple of years though he's been going out again to support my sib who started regular pioneering.

We often went in service on Christmas Day. The people seemed nicer and we kept it brief. Can't say I have any worse than usual memories of it.

When I was young I went out a couple of Christmases. Most reactions were the same as at any other time. Those who had started drinking early were quite friendly, most people were way to busy and a few quite rude.

By the time I got married (1984) I had quit going on fs on holidays. a) It was my holiday too. b) People should be left alone on some days. Even as an MS and the short time I was an elder I always had an excuse why I wouldn't going out, let alone lead a group on Christmas day.

Regarding CAs, in recent years the WTS has tried not to schedule these on Christmas day. Those in JW-defined "divided" households had trouble attending on that day. Instead Ministry School training for MS and elders was often scheduled on holidays. That was often an excuse not to bother arranging congregation FS on holidays.

I absolutely hated going D2D on holidays. Christmas was especially hard for me. I remember having Christmas and then it being RIPPED from me without my consent. When I went out in service I hated it because I was confronted with what I had at one time and also dealt with people who were having a grand time and all I had was going D2D, which I hated anyway.
