I agree with your assessment. Their publicity has gone from bad to disastrous in the last few years. The "spiritual paradise" is getting harder and harder to sell.
I would agree with Franklin that whatever "Credibility " they thought they had was largely in their own mind. Self importance has always been their trademark.
They were so fond of telling us that "Employers like and promote witneses because they are trustworthy" or "Witnessess know their bible so much better than any other religion" In reality, who of us can say that we got a job because we were dubs? And outside scholarship is in reality much superior .. The persecution complex that ran side by side was also largely imagined or the result of other personal issues.
The truth is that the world hardly notices them, except as a minor irritant on a quiet Sunday morning

You know, your right about the only ones caring about the dubs are ex-dubs and dubs. The reason of course is because people in general have no idea of the hold this group has on peoples lives and the damage they have caused. Most people are shocked to find out the inner workings of the Organisation.
