The thievery in J.W. charity work is masterminded by the WBTS.. J.W`s are willing and wittless accomplices..WB&TS is in charge of the theft, they simply use mindless J.W`s to do the dirty work..WB&TS walks away with the cash, and the J.W`s take the blame...OUTLAW

Here in KC when the tornado hit, the JWs did the same thing. They only helped the Dubs and did nothing for the others...how charitable is that?

I yet to see any evidence of any JW "chartable" work at all.

As many have said in this thread, they may help their own but often with strings attached. When it comes to feeding and clothing the poor, they do nothing.

I can never understand the Salvation Army with their miltary style uniforms and ranks but I have the utmost respect for their charitable work. From what I can see they practice what they preach.

I thought this one was relevant....I would also like to draw the attention of those who claim JWs do charitable works, and if any of you want to add some of the financial holdings of the WTBTS to the mix it would be most appreciated. How any "Christian" org could be sitting on huge holdings and do no charity work for those around them is beyond me.

    Sincerely,

    AHA!

Well, I live in Central Florida and my mother is an active Witness. It was very strange, but she showed up at my house last night to drop a present off. I got married almost 3 months ago and she decided to give us a gift.

Anyways, she showed up covered in tar and dirt and said she's been volunteering with the "roofing project" that the JWs are doing. 3 weekends out of the month they all get together in groups and she's part of 1 roofing group and they do a roofing job for a JW who lost their roof in the hurricanes. She said it's every Sat & Sun, and they get 1 weekend off a month to go out in service. She said that it's all volunteers for the labor and that the Watchtower Society is paying for ALL THE MATERIALS including the FOOD. She said they get drinks and food every time they show up.

I asked her, "what about the homeowner when he gets his insurance check in the mail? Wouldn't the homeowner then be making out like bandit by not having to pay for materials or labor?" She shrugged it off and said she didn't know if everyone had insurance or what they were getting, it didn't matter, that Jehovah was taking care of his people.

I plan on calling the Soceity myself and asking because I lived in FL during Hurricane Andrew about 12 years ago and all the local congregations that weren't affected were asked to donate to a special "Hurricane andrew fund" and we all donated big money... then I know that money went specifically to the victims. My theory is that other congregations nationwide have donated funds and the watchtower is allocating it in the form of materials at wholesale cost to repair roofs. BUT - the money hasn't come from the general fund, it's coming directly from the people who have donated money, meaning it's coming from other people's pockets, not really the Society.

My mother by the way is older, dirt poor, and is helping because she thinks it's the right things to do. I would hate for them to be profiting from her labors. But there isn't anything I can say or do about it.

During the summer of 2001, for instance

That article is written to print in 2003, and a reminder of a disaster they kind of helped out in from 2001 is supposed to be proof of how compassionate they are? Can anyone think of any other times and places where humans needed help? 9/11?, Rwanda?, Africa?, homeless at home? silentlambs?, etc...

Jesus? chief interest was in helping others spiritually.

Maybe so but did he ignore their physical needs? (and use that to stress the spiritual?)

Why would he go thru the trouble of the loaves & the fishes for those who might've been merely hungry after a long assembly day? Surely he had already given them enough "meat".

At times the JW logic is so twisted, unchristian, harmful and downright mean.

My mother gave me quite a lecture yesterday because she was certain (and correct lol) that we had contributed to Tsunami relief. She went on about how all charities go back to the Vatican and that all the money contributed goes to the church and not the people.

She also related that she put a check in the contribution box for 500.00 wanting to help the brothers effected by the Tsunami. Talk about wasted. It will never get to anyone effected by the tsunami!

She then went on to say what a blessing it was that she'd heard through relatives who have kids at bethel that 'no brothers were killed in' I think she said Sri Lanka, can't be sure. That was all she freaking cared about.

I just can't stand their mentality, it's truly sickening.
