I don't bother to query the "Brothers" about their doctrine any longer I just get the old run around (not so here) so my question or rather statement is this. The Truth (I feel) is in the bible and well the jw's do use the text to some degree BUT why oh why are they not in "The Way" as the first century christians called their beliefs ? "The Way" being a practice of christian beliefs\values ect . My take on this is that they do have the truth... (minus the wt org) but they don't live "The Way" cuz IF they did they'd be happy and not praying for harmageddon to fall upon them any day. I never understood why the jw's pound home the "fact" that the END is so close, I thought if they have a christian spirit they ought to be living in gods spiritual kingdom on earth right now AND enjoying it...heck I'm a half baked christian and I'm diggin it now and if I should be judged rightous (in the end) I'll be diggin it later. This is why I think they use the expression "The Truth" instead of "The Way". Any insights ?

Well, after all is said and done, maybe their "truth" really isn't "The Way". just a thought from one who has visited numerous Christian Churches, including the dubs and find them marginally "Christian".

Spot on, Little Toe!
Jesus was plainly saying that he was the way, the truth, and the life. There is no need to interpret, "I am the way, the truth, and the life." It is a clear statement.
I get the same thing regarding the WTS treatment of Paul's personal choice regarding honoring the consciences of others. It wasn't an order. Someone choosing not to certainly wasn't an offense that would lead to disfellowhipping. Paul was encouraging others to adopt the same view he had, but wasn't insisting. I doubt he had a clue that his discussion would turn into part of the new Fence Around the Law (of the Christ).

Letting Life live through you is The Way. It is not belief , nor is it dogma. These things are dead.

it seems to me that when most christians say this or quote it, they indicate that Jesus is some idol that people can bow to and its all done... but if someone in that time period said they were THE WAY.... they meant they were the ROAD to travel, their life was to be followed... as THE WAY, not just accept that they existed and a smile in their direction is what matters now.... Jesus said pick up your crosses and follow me... a pretty harsh thing to say back then equivelant to.... I am headed to death row, you coming?
