In reference to the scale of things, Tsunami is the worst for sure, also iraq, any cost to human life.

The human response to Tsunamie.

There is a spot for what good came out of the Tsunamie on the bbc web site.
The only thing I could think of was there's probably a new world record for the number of people to simultaneously go paddling.

And before anyone thinks that lacked taste, can I just say a bit of humour can go along way at times like this.

The worst, definitely the tsunami in Asia -
The best, although I am a die hard Yankee fan, my vote goes to the Red Sox for defeating the Babe's curse and finally winning the World Series.
Also my kid acheived a 3.8 GPA in college. Amazing with all the partying she does. I'm definitely proud of her.

Best: the on-going love and support of my family despite my leaving the 'truth'
Worst: the tradgic loss of life in the tsunami

Ballastic...yes that is horrible! But I snickered...I ain't ashamed to admit it.
Red Sox overcoming the curse..definately on of the best of 2004. Besides the Tsunami...tragic that Bush won again, BUT a huge voter turned out...better than it has been in 35 years...so that is the best thing politically for the US for 2004 I think.
