I don't know if anyone has mentioned it yet, but even if they have it's worth repeating. Thank you for allowing the advertisement that reads: "Tsunami Earthquake--Donate Online--if you're reading this you can afford it." Now, if the official Watchtower Society site could learn from you!!!!!
Thank You Simon

It's not a big deal really. The UK is making a fantastic fundraising effort (£32m so far) and the Disaster Emergency Committee is an organising group of many direct charities which helps to make sure the work is coordinated and targetted. I thought it was a good site to link to.
It's easy to think we are helpless and cant do much but even $1 or £1 will do something to help someone. The fact that we are sat here readin online with a computer, internet access and electricity means that WE ARE WEALTHY. There is no excuse not to contribute something.
Don't believe me? Try this site to see how you rank on the planets wealth scale. Most of us are in the top 1% I suspect:

These people have lost everything and many didn't have too much to start with. Imagine your kids having lost their parents and alone or if you lost your entire family and depend on someone on the other side of the planet giving a small amount (to them) that will save your life. If we do not help them then the same number again at least will die.
I can quite easily do without some luxury that will probably be a waste of money anyway and send the money to them instead where I know it will do some real good.

Interestingly, the official sites of most religions advocate their relief efforts and makes it possible to donate money to aid the tsunami victims, e.g. cathlic.org, lds.org and sda.org The main topic on the Watchtower site is Sand Dunes in Poland, the jw-media site did state a statement on witness activities worldwide in the year of 2004 by T. Jarazc. Not a word is mentioned on the tragedy. (There are altogether three items on humanitarian efforts on their media-site (Liberia, Goma and Houston). It seems the watchtower society as the means to allow their followers to donate online, e.g. jw-gift.org site... so if they wanted it they could use this way of donating. Since the number of witnesses are small in the affected areas, I suspect the relief efforts will be accordingly. According to the Kingdom Ministry, believers are adviced to send their donations to their local banch, without specifying which area the money should be spent, just to the world-wide-work.

Inquiry Man,
Don't you get it? The Watchtower Society is mainly interested in the spiritual welfare of those not in the faith. The preaching work is surely going to bring much comfort to those who are suffering. Perhaps tons of Watchtowers and Awakes will alleviate their distress. NOT

We all know the Watchtower and Awake! are edible. They toast really well, and are tasty with berry jam or ketsup. If you need to feed a larger group of people, they can be stewed, or made into a soup. They are highly nutricious, and easy to obtain.
To prepare, remove the staples in the spine and lay out the pages individually. Since they are seldom handled, there is no need to wash them.

I do understand. My statements on the Watchtower Societys efforts and lack of response was ironical... Sorry you did not grasp that. I do not support them whatsoever, only reported some facts.
