Odrade, I thought he was teasing. Not sure though, haven't read his other postings.

maybe he was joking. I hope so. If so, I apologize.

damn good impersonation of an apologist JW though, don't you think?

This sort mentally dismisses the unequalled loss of human life, reasoning that most of these would have died at Armageddon anyway. Hence, they rejoice that only one or two brothers and sisters lost their lives, failing to grasp the magnitude of the disaster.

When I still thought as a jw. My feelings were that maybe they now had a chance of being resurrected, not that they were going to die anyway. Was I going against JW thinking feeling this way?

Maybe they taught differently in different areas, but I was always told that if a person died before Armageddon, that they had a chance at being resurrected.

    Hi WildHorses,

I think that was partly my point. JWs will reason these people will be resurrected. But if Armageddon came tomorrow, then presumably all their surviving friends and relatives would perish. Jehovah will use the natural elements to destroy people at Armageddon but in the meantime people perishing in natural disasters may be ressurected. No logic at all.

My experience with 3rd generation(of which I am one) and older type JWS is they seem heartless. As a JWS who bought the entire party line, I thought "oh well they would have been destroyed at A anyhow.". I swear after 9/11 I was at the KH once and all they were talking about was the JWS who were killed, they just dismissed the rest of the people, "oh well they are worldly people" is what I heard. We used to have a poster, tom something, who had a website that showed how JWS protray destruction at A, and I think that JWS are desensitized to tragedy, unless it effects them personally. Anyway, it is suppose to be a part of the "sign" so Hello, they say, all u inactive jws, hurry to the ark.

Eyeslice, I really think that if some of us put the pressure on, the WTS might have to come up with an actual report on what they are doing and how the funds are being spent. This website and the people here have accomplished many things , spreading the word about the UN thing, to the point that the WTS has had to offer some sort of public explanation. Sounds like a job for Farkel.

the red cross, save the children, salvation army are safe people to give to.

and give we should. It could be us.

My wife is off to the meeting this morning. I will ask her a bout a couple of points when she gets back.

    1. In the two Sunday prayers did they mention the tsunami disasters? If they did, did they spare a thought for the non-witnesses?
    2. What are the brothers and sisters saying about it?
