Tsunami appeal at the Kingdom Hall

I was both perplexed and unsettled tonight at the hall.

The second last part of the service meeting, the brother started reading a report from HQ regarding the Tsunami and JW deaths.

Indo, there were no JW's living there so no deaths ( other than possible holiday makers )

Phuket, there were no JW's living there so no deaths. ( " " )

So and So a place, same as above...

Some other place ( sorry for forgetting i was almost asleep ), 1 JW death as well as a few inactive JW deaths.

LUCKILY it was then mentioned, all JW's ( except the 1 above plus inactive ) were at the meeting which was on high ground so they didnt die ( implying that being at the meeting saved them ), But their huts were completely distroyed. ( bugger ! start getting quotes in darl )

He then had the audacity to ask for donations, send cheques direct to HQ, payable to the watchtower for the JW Tsunami victims, please this is a huge disaster and money is needed !!!

Now this begs the discerning though, this i assume is a worldwide JW ask ( please others confim ). How much money is required urgently to cater to possibly about 20 - 40 witnesses in some little town somewhere affected by this disaster ? And how dare you so called christians specify explicitly that this money is needed and will be used only for JW's ( of which there is a handfull of needy ones ).

Is this a cheap attempt to raise capital at the expense of good taste ?

I got the impression after scanning the congregation that they looked interested in helping out, which may well translate into big bucks being made out of this unfortunate "act of god".

How can they with a straight face claim to be spirit directed ( dodgie spirit id say, prob 12 y/o johnny ). Where is their humanitarian conscience ?

i would be interested in the forums thoughts and info regarding local requests.

Yeah, that is pretty rude. When I look back now they always have been. It is the same reason as reason I left. When they only talked about the 7 JW's killed on 9/11 and the brothers only prayed for those 7 families. RUDE and extremely UNCHRISIAN. But, when you think about it that is how they have always been. They only take care of their own.

Yep, same old mentality, they only help their own kind, because everybody else is going to die at Armageddon. sick bastards they are.

If all news agencies acted like JWs:

"Tonight on NBC Nightly News with Brian Williams: The death toll from the Indian Ocean tsunami disaster continues to increase. Today the death toll stands at 3 Catholics, 2 Mormon missionaries, 3 Jehovah's Witnesses, 5 Baptist Missionaries, 139,546 Muslims."

I watched the news and saw people, not muslims or indians or thai, just humans, suffering, dying. It was horrible. It doesn't matter what religion or idealogy they adhered to.

I can't help but think that if this is read in all congregations and all congregations send in a couple of hundred bucks each, that the WTS rakes in quite a bit there. Some of it goes to rebuild a few huts and repair some Kingdom Halls. Does the rest go to help the non-JWs? or does it go into the WTS bank account?

    By the way, WELCOME.

I hope you find what you are looking for. Sorry if I sound bitter, but I was in the "truth" for 25 years before the realization that they acted so uncharitable, uncaring, & unchristian hit me. Stuff like this just sets me off.

Welcome to the board! These men are vulgar con-men, scammers, and pure thieving bastards. Any money will support an already well-off lifestyle for the GB and their cronies. I'd sent them manure, right to their branch offices front doors. "Mr. Rig Driver, just dump the crap on the front door step." Maybe even mix in some blood with the dung.

    I just caught this:

1 JW death as well as a few inactive JW deaths.

Nice. Let's differentiate between the different classes of JWs in addition to just JWs over the rest of the world.

I just don't see where classifying people in this situation does anything but create an us vs them mentality. The rest of the world is trying to put aside differences to help, why can't JWs?

my understanding was two JWs were killed that was vacationing, and those in the Kingdom Hell was saved, all those out in service was saved????????So why do they need money>??????we know they only help their own !!!

This sickened me again. If I was sitting in the Kingdom Hell I would be one of the first to run & give them money- dear! dear brothers used by God!!!!! NOT!!!!!!!!
