I never had the priveledge to go to any pioneer school or anything, so I was Just wondering if there was any special training for this Pace that the Pioneers walk at, (it is not just limited to the Pioneering ones..but they seem to have it mastered) It is noticeable from a mile away, usually breifcase swinging, one arm gesticulating, but not much progress being made.

Funny, your version of the pioneer pace is a little different than the one I grew up around. We always referred to the "pioneer pace" as walking slowly, so as to squeeze more time out of the territory, thereby knocking on the least amount of doors as possible.

Ah, the old Pioneer Strut! It was a joke among pioneers in the 1960s-70s in the New York area. Don't know about anywhere else. The Strut disease was passed on from generation to generation of pioneers. A lot of regular publishers were infected, too.

That was exactly my point!!!
Is/was there such a thing as pioneer driving too? As a young n', I often sat in the back of the car, with Bro' super zelouse, magazine route extraordinaire, who would encourage younger Bro' mega hours on my report...again, to take it slow as they drove seemingly idly around on a Sunday afternoon.

This reminds me when I was out East and a Filipino witness family was visiting the area. They kept asking us why we were running from door to door. So if you think JWs go slow here, it must be even slower there and some Hispanic countries. It could be the hot climate too.
The time-wasting techinique I noticed most was driving from one end of the congregation's territor to the other making return visits. No one consolidated their calls by region.

lol... yeah that is a tradition that is passed on word of mouth.
I watch the Postal workers, employees of Federal Express, UPS and DHL and wonder if they could possibly stay in business if they did the "Pioneer Walk"

I always booked so I could get done then just figured out my time as if I had gone slow... "lets see I walked that street in 5 min but if I had walked slow I would have gotten 15 and then hummm.... so total is ummmm divide the 2 carry the 3.... ummmm 2 hours!
Didn't take to many years before I could get two hours on a saterday morning while driving to the beach!

It was almost impossible for me to walk slowly -- I just wanted to get service over with. My favorite was finding a door where no one was home and staying there as long as I could -- so the others could get the doors that had people at home (i.e. doors with garage doors open, etc.).

In our area, it was affectionately known as the "Pioneer Shuffle"! One long-time pioneer sister taught me that when I worked with her one day ( I was never a pioneer for any length of time - no stamina for one thing) - and said I needed to learn it if I was going to work with her. LOL! No problem!

That's it. I seeitallclearlynow It was called the pioneer shuffle. Ruth Buzzie's character Gladys Ormphby In Rowan And Martin's Laugh in was the inspiration.
