Has anyone ever seen this... http://www.dec.org/pdf_docs/PNACS222.pdf

Stumbled across this site. I skimmed over it (going to lunch right now) and saw the WTBS mentioned a few times amongst NGO's and other scarlet colored orgs. It's 100+ pages long. It's dated February 2003 and is apparently a report from Development Alternatives Inc (a govt sponsored think tank?) about United States-Indian efforts to make a positive impact on India. Noticed it mentioned corporate setups in India for US corporations and IRS rules, etc...So the first thing I thought of was a money laundering scheme by the Borg...whay the hell else would they be so interested in a Hindu nation? On page 6 it says the WTBS donated $13.6 million to ? ...and in the next box says, they received $14.9 million in contributions. Anyway, i'll check back after my lunch and I expect an answer dammit! Ok, pretty please. Thanks,

PS. Oh yeah, on the pages that list the NGO's, the WTBS is not listed even though they seem to speak favorably of them...could the WTBS still be an NGO under another name???

    Interesting Find Bonezz

So the US branch was the third largest foreign donor that year. Wow I'm sure they really helped alot of the population by all of it apparently going to their own branch in India.

We had the same sort of farce at the congregation level. Instead of using the funds collected as a charity to do actual good, we'd be donating the portions earmearked by the publishers to the main Canadian branch. That was one way the distribution quota set out by law was met. Heaven forbid actually giving some of it out to a group out of the Org. Glad I didn't have to do that stint very long

I read page 6 only and can't figure out why they said they donated that much money. BUT my guess is that they donated that much money towards the worldwidework in that country, it can't be to set up any schooling or anything. They probably count money spent at the local Branch and missionaries as donations too. But that's just my guess.

What we need is some New Light on this thing. I just got back and am gonna go over it again. I was hoping someone would give me the Cliff's Notes version of what's going on. Yes they were not only 3rd largest donor, they were also the 3rd largest recipient of foreign $$. How does that work? Do they donate million$ from U.S. headquarters to their WTBS branch in India and then filter it some way? How many dubbies can there be in India?

According to the stats in the Feb/01/05 magazine, an average of 23,583

Do they donate million$ from U.S. headquarters to their WTBS branch in India and then filter it some way?

    BINGO

Exactly how they did it in 2001, I don't know but here's an interesting little blurb I found in the 2005 yearbook pg.28-29. Maybe this has something to do with it?

"The long-awaited day finally came on December 7, 2003" writes the India Branch. "It was the day for the dedication of our newly constructed branch at Bangalore, in the south-central part of India."

Set on 43 acres, the 320,000-square-foot- complex is like a small township. The first large branch in the world to be constructed by a commercial firm, it has a purification plant for drinking water, a wastewater treatment-recycling plant, and its own electric-power generation...[snip]...The entire project, which made use of local materials, was completed in two years.

These are the only instances where the WBTS are mentioned in the document. There is a $1.3 mil difference in what the USA branch sent and what the INDIA branch received.

Midget - Hmmm, that is interesting. Did they use the $14 mil for that construction?...seems like a lot by WTBS standards...but it did say they used a commercial firm. And why in India where it has to be really hard to convert Hindus to Dubbies?

Heatmiser - That extra $1.3 mil was worldwide work donations?! Something doesn't seem right...guess I don't trust them...Wow, go figure! Why the hell wouldn't they send $14 mil to...say...Mexico where they're converting them to Dubbiehood faster than you can shoot a shot of Patrone. I dunno...gonna keep diggin unless somebody explains all this to me.

Maybe this branch is used for the region and not just India.

India does have a large population so there are a lot of potential converts. Growing population pressures and economicly challenged poplulation equals prime assimulation opportunities for the bOrg.

I didn't know that the Watchtower donated to anyone other then to Jehovah's witness themselves.

    What do I know?

I also heard a rumour that the WTBTS was routing laundering more money through Britain these days because of its very favorable charitable and tax laws
