Yes they were sure fun! Before I went inactive I sent the Society a letter telling them that had taken the sense of occasion out of assemblies by all their simplification. I got a patronizing reply.
Happyman.. I travelled to New York on a chartered Assembly tour . I shared exactly your sense of wonder and excitement at being THERE! NY was just so big and exciting and in those days few people I knew had been to the USA..
helios . I was there too, at Wembly 1969. I also got wet and hungry and cold but I stayed and heard and even tapeda lot of the talks. I recall the one about music. Someone I knew with contacts in the Bethel told me that the speaker left the "truth" a short while after.
My biggest recollection was an 8 day marathon at Twickenham, i guess sometime in the 60's. I lived on assembly food and slept all week in one of several large tents erected in the adjoining grounds, on a camp bed that disintigrated after 3 nights. Happy days
