I hear and read and form my thoughts about the insanity that was my life and those of others who experienced being a JW. I am still stumped. As much as I disagree with JW, have strong opinions about it, and feel it is very unhealthy, what is "their" motivation? I doesn't seem like money right? to accomplish on of the larger publishing companies worldwide in 230 countries is no small feat. Most other religious organizations can make claims such as this, but you can see the motivation as plain as day... money! But what about the JW's? what is their payoff to mislead millions? I don't know...
What is the societies motivation?

I think a great many of them really do believe they are a part of God's organization. If they don't, they either keep quiet or speak out and lose everything they know and love. That's a powerful motivation to turn a blind eye to wrongdoing. You know us humans, often times that's all we need.

Dearest Trend... may you have peace!
What is their 'motivation'? The answer can be found at Matthew 23:1-39. Pay special attention, please, to verses 13 through 15. You will have to use a NWT Reference Bible, however, because they took the most important verse, 14, out and put it in the footnote. When you read it, you will know why.
Peace to you!

With all due respect, because I like AGuest. I believe the Governing Body's motivation is power. They like being the top dog. As far as the average Joe in attendence at the meeting, I think their motivation is either love, or they think they truly have the truth.

…Self-validation through association.
I doubt Jehovah’s Witnesses mislead “millions”, only themselves, the rest of the worlds hardly heard of them.
If any of the comments read on this discussion forum is any indication, many of those “millions” are wise, at least subconsciously, to those controlling the WTBTS but remain to play the game because of what they can gain for themselves or what they might lose.

agreed. most certainly the fear of loss is more powerful than the joy of gain. Armageddon anyone? Shunning? Loss of friends and family? List goes on and on...

I agree, JayHawk1 (may you have peace...)
Power. That's what Matthew 23 reveals. It just goes into the details of such 'power'.

money! But what about the JW's? what is their payoff
what is better money? everlasting life free of pain free of all need, pleasure, happynes every thing money could buy and more.
ALL the "payoffs" the WTB&TS offers ARE the promises of materialistic gain.
IT IS ALL MATERIALISTIC FROM START TO FINISH
personal gane or lossthe ideas and opinions expressed in this post do not necessiarly represent those of the WTB&TS inc. or any of it's subsidiary corporations.

Trendspeak,
I think every JW knows it's not the truth. They're just afraid to tell each other.

Hello everyone,
a good question.
I do agree with Bigboi :
"I think a great many of them really do believe they are a part of God's organization. If they don't, they either keep quiet or speak out and lose everything they know and love. That's a powerful motivation to turn a blind eye to wrongdoing. You know us humans, often times that's all we need."
