What other religious organizations are supposedly 'preaching the good news of the kingdom throughout the Earth' other that the JWs? I can only think of Mormons but know of missionaries in the Catholic and Cof E faith.

But does this mean that 'then the end will come', as the WTBTS preaches or have their always been missionaries on a Christianity conversion trip?

I was thinking of the Crusades as well and the Spanish over in S America. Weren't they also 'converting' albeit very violently.

Christian fundamentalism is growing fast in China. The "Back to Jerusalem" movement has aproximately 5 million members and rising. A little worrying is their belief in a literal crusade to retake Jerusalem. (moving through a few muslim countries on the way one presumes.)

Really! Now that's got to be the beauty of the internet! Thanks Unclebruce. I had never heard of this group only that 'christianity' was increasing in China. That is a mind boggling thought, five million chinese advancing on Jerusalem!

I can imaging the Jews and Muslims joining forces against that force.

Why do people believe these things?

The current evangelical movement in the US has many groups that believe it's their duty to spread christianity. It's comprised of various christian denominations.

Haven't missionaries throughout the last thousand say years been preaching in one part of the world or another though? Major organized religions have always been preaching in one way or another that all were to become Christians to 'save' themselves.

Now are you thinking of "preaching the good news" only as door-to-door type preaching? If so, time to get out of the box! LOL, j/k

Most religious groups do some form of preaching, it may just not be as in-your-face as the JW's or Mormans. That's how the congregations grow.

Jehovah's Witnesses do not "preach the good news of the kingdom". They sell watchtower and awake magazines, and other literature. How much do they really say about the "kingdom" in their preaching? Have another look at the articles in the magazines. You'll notice the "kingdom" is only given a few sentences at the end of a few articles, almost as an afterthought.

If it weren't for the conversion activities of other Christian religions ( some admittedly violent) Jehovah's Witnesses would have no audience. They have done well primarily in preaching to other Christians. Most witness converts in so-called non-christian lands were members of christian churches or educated in christian schools where they were exposed to the Bible.

i agree with kwin, most so called christian religions have some type of preaching. The difference is most of them do it on an informal basis versus under the pressure of having to fill in your time sheet for the month. I recently went to a church for the first time and was shocked. Not only was it a great place with friendly ppl who weren't in your face asking if you would like a free bible study, they announced various spiritual programs such as bible studies, etc. Big difference was that there was no pressure to join. And ta da, guess what they were all overbooked! Guess they are ppl besides jws who are concerned with their spiritually and gaining bible knowledge. Shock to the system or what! lol When you are a dub they try to tell you how unique they are in comparison to other religions. No body else reads the bible don't you know? Another lie revealed. Actually, i think their approach is more effective in the long run, ppl get into it if they want to. Witnesses do get ppl at the door to study with them but many of them leave when they see what its really like.
