Anointed to Apostate

The whole annointed thing is a huge problem to WTBTS theology.

There is no doubt that the NT clearly teaches that the only way to God is through a relationship with Christ, being born again (this may well be an intensely personal thing that only the person shares with God), and being adopted as a son of God.

It seems to me that a number of very sincere JWs have come to realise they are being drawn into a closer spiritual relationship with God through Christ and feel restricted by the whole 144,000/partaking of the emblems/being branded an apostate thing.

Okay, I'm ashamed to ask, as I REALLY should know the answer to this question, but I don't.. are ALL the members of the governing body 'annointed"?

They used to be, way back in the day, but they no longer are, and as far as I have heard, it is no longer a requirement to be so.

For some reason this question comes up on the board quite often, the answer is Yes. Why wouldn't they be? The great crowd are a bunch of second-class citizens in WT theology.

When one thinks about it deeply - the class system runs right throughout the WTBTS organization - always more than one class of people

"The bible was written for the annointed".... WT bullshit!

then why are we reading it, and following it?

So, the voting members are annointed but the non voting members are not annointed per se, but all members used to be annointed way back then.. it that the answer? If so, when it came to be so that they allowed people who were not annointed to join their club, doesn't that smell like a preparation for the fact that in just a few years, there won't be any annointed ones left, the earth will still turn around and they will have to come up with an explanation?

Haven't the JWs usually stated that the reason the number of memorial partakers fluctuates from year to year is because some still do "fall away from the truth" (I hate that expression).

I remember that in my local congregation, two JWs habitually took the wine and bread at the memorial, claiming to be of the anointed, but they were discreetly never counted. These two were viewed by the brothers as benignly eccentric. I wonder how much of this goes on so that if every single person taking the wine and bread were literally counted with no questions asked, the actual number of memorial partakers would be who knows how much larger.

I totally agree with that. Ask around on this site. I bet that pretty much everyone has seen someone partaking at the memorial. It would be interesting to ask.. is there anyone who has NEVER seen a person partaking at the memorial?

What's more, of the people partaking.. how can the elders decide who is just a bit on the looney side and who is really annointed? Where do they find the right to make that decision?
