At the meeting today several elders commented about the wonderful program that they attended yesterday on the new kingdom hall designs. They said that the new halls are going to be so beautiful with lots of windows and glass panels and that the lights will be kept on in the lobby 24/7 so that you can see into the hall at night and that thousands of these halls must be built. Then five minutes later they are talking about how close the end is and that we will be meeting in basements in the near future. So everyone is worked up into a frenzy about the new design and how exciting this will be while at the same time fearing that if they miss one meeting that they may not know whose basement to meet in.
I go to a hall that is very nice and is under 8 years old. It was commented on how we will visited by the new group that visits halls to decide who gets to build new and who will just get a remodeled hall. My bet is that the Org will get very one whipped up on the new design that everyone will vote on selling the existing residential halls and building the newer cheaper versions, which will not use a wood structure but rather the steel framing, and who gets to keep the savings?
I would guess that the stage will not built in with rooms on the side of the stage because that will take away from the resale value and it already sounds like there is not going to be a built in literature counter, which takes away from the resale value, since the larger version of the portable trolleys will be used. The room by the entrance fits in nicely for the resale value since very business wants a room where you can meet with customers or vendors when they come in the door. No doubt the spacing of the windows will be to easily accommodate new walls when the hall is sold. All of the halls that had their loans forgiven will get to go in debt again with window projects and putting in glass panels.
