This was actually a simplification, under the old system they had to print a copy of the yearbook and days text for every member of the family, by seperating them one year book can be used by the whole family and each member only needs the days text

WT CD went from every other year to every year. That's a 100% increase in production. Cut Awake! and increase CD production. Anyone wanna guess which is most profitable for the publishing company?

Wasn't there a lot of issues with the JW calendars? I seem to recall someone saying that for a time they eliminated it completely. Also, it used to be a full size calendar. Now it's half the size of a full calendar, and it's almost impossible to write stuff in the boxes. It's pretty useless and I wouldn't be surprised if they did away with it again.
