Yeah there are pretty disgusting things that happened back then. But everything is a parrallel now. The Bible is just a parrallel with EVERY ERA. Were there unemployed people in Ancient Greece? ABSOLUTELY! jUST LIKE now! So people did something back then, people do something abhorrent now.

I use to think not about the employment situation in Ancient Greece, but I remember studying it at school and as a subject and they said so there too as well.
I guess there is that Scripture about "unemployed gluttons," but a lot of people probably don't know much about the Bible anyway. -

Were they burnt to death or killed by some other method then the remains cremated?My understanding is that in a culture where burial was the normative, and resurrection was an expectation (as also evidenced by Egyptian mummification) in their own body, burning the remains was a fairly radical step.
It didn't necessitate them having a fiery demise. -
