Blondie - Aw! The trouble with him is he really is a lot of work right now! LOL.

He is confined to the house right now because he hasn't had his injections yet. On the plus side, he is already trained to "go" on newspapers. We have a crate for him in the hallway, so at night and when we're not there he is in the hallway and can only go there. We haven't shut the crate door on him but that is the plan! We're following the book's advice on gradually introducing the shut door to him so he is used to it. He will never be left for long periods of time - up until recently we couldn't have a dog because we worked too many hours but now things have changed and we'll be around more for him.

So right now its 8:21am - I've been up since 7.30 (on a Sunday! argh!) because when we first got him he was crying in the night at 2 and 5 am, now he only cries at approximately 5.30am then he settles (we ignore the crying, or we'd reinforce it). Over a few days we got up at 5.45am, then 6.15am, then 7am, now today 7.30am. Hopefully 7.30ish is OK for him because that's the time one of us will get up for work.

I've just had to clean up the poo and wee in the hallway.... I had to shut him in the lounge because he goes crazy when you're cleaning and even latches on to the mop (have you seen "You've been framed" where the dog is being dragged around while it holds onto the mop with its jaw? )

Tired. but he is really sweet and I think he is going to make a good dog when the training is over that is.....

And where is my husband while all this is going on? In bed! But its OK because we're taking it in turns.

Now he is running from the hallway into the lounge and back again....destroying the papers I laid down....

I would find a dog training school in your area. In this area the AKC run such classes. It is a good way to socialize your dog and teach them the basics like coming when you call their name and stopping when you say stay and being able to walk nicely on a leash. Stay is very important if you think about them getting loose and running across a busy street, or come to you rather than running off.

    Good luck.
