That's the exact right post I would like to show my mum. She too is of the "I got carried away like the rest of the brothers" mentality. I've already found two rather damming quotes on the cdrom. I'd like to get hold of that book "sons of freedom". I imagine my mum might have a copy. I don't know whether she would believe it unless she saw it in the book.

I seriously doubt it. If you're real nice to AlanF or Tom Talley, they might scan the relevant parts for you. I'm nearly certain I've seen scans from the book on the net, too. Check out Randy's and Kent's sites.
Even so, there are tons of quotes after that book that emphasize 1975. The Truth That Leads to Eternal Life is one of them and was the MAIN book dubs used in Bible studies during that period.
The Kingdom Ministry which talks about what a "fine thing" it was for dumb-dubs to sell everything they owned so they could work full-time for the Watchower Organization in the "few months remaining" is also very damning. Then there is the quote that says "only 90 more months left" when it was talking about 1975.
BTW that KM I just mentioned is on your CD ROM. You'll just have to find it as I don't remember which KM it was from. Try 1969 to 1972. It should be in that batch.

1975 I was 10 years old. I remember it quite clearly because I was NOT ALLOWED to go to school along with my brother who was 10 months older then me until the year prior.
We had been kept from entering school because the "END" was coming. There was no way that my Grandmother or father were going to allow us to go to school because "My brother and I were sure to be influenced by wordily people. We have to keep them away from all the bad people before the "end" comes"
I will never forget all that was said about the "End." I will never forget the humiliation of entering the first grade along with my brother at the ages of 9 and 10. How could we be missed we were Giants among the other children in school? We knew none of the songs taught in Kindergarten, we stood in the hallway during the flag salute and holiday parties and birthday events.
We stuck out like sore thumbs, awaiting the "End" to our misery which never came.

However, even after that, growing up in the 80's, I recall being told not to plan ahead, not to worry about college, even discussing with my little friends that we were all going to wait and have kids in the "new system" so it wouldn't hurt so bad. What a joke. (Needless to say most of them got married at 19 and are now baby making machines in "this old system of things".)
I do remember the Revelation book coming out, and that convention in the back of my mind because the pictures in the book scared me. Can anyone who knows tell me, wasn't 1989 supposed to be another year where something was supposed to happen? I recall it wasn't as hyped, and a lot of talk about not letting everyone get carried away like they did "before" and how "predicting the end" was frowned upon, but people still were. Am I remembering this totally wrong?
