    In alphabetical order:

Australia, Austria, Belgium, Britain, Canada, Czech, Denmark, Finland, Greece, Hongkong, Hugary, Italy, Japan, The Netherlands, Norway, Portugal, Puerto Rico, Romania, Slovakia, Sweden, Switzerland, USA.

Last year it was seven and now twentytwo countries with zero or negative growth.

Remember when Japan was growing by double digits each year?

The Internet is exposing the lies and past lies of the WT.

I wonder if the Higher-Ups will get a sudden fit of superstition and start confessing the sins of the organization like the average JW does when bad things start happening.

The internet is helping to expose the WTBTS for what it is and they are terrified.

They have now published the 2004 analysis there.

Edited to add: Poland is proud to be the country with the lowest number of hours per publisher. (We were only beaten a few tiny little islands, but they only have a fe hundred publishers, so their results don't represent any global trend). AGAIN!!! I'm glad I reported 3 fake hours at the beginning of last year, when I was still an official publisher. LOL.

Hmmm, some slavic states and countries connected to the internet. Hmmmm. I know evanglicals (JW's included) considered these slavic countries ripe harvest grounds when communismm collapsed. Could it be that their aggressive style has soured on the populace (life didn't immediately get better)?

    jgnat,

That's right. EU-slavs dont buy it anymore (Poland, Czech Rep, Slovakia, Slovenia). Internet acces and the gradual increase of affluence work miracles.

So life does get better - outside the WTS.

This trend will also come in other slavic countries (Former SU and the Balkans).

That's interesting that you've linked the two facts in a kind of cause and effect way. I wonder though if we can say for sure that they are connected. Was the internet the cause of the decline in Japan?

    Any thoughts?

I wasn't specifically connecting the two - but I do suggest that the internet has a large effect overall in slowing the growth of JWism.

    Do you not think so?

If you were contacted or your children by JWs wouldn't you do research on the internet?

Oh yes, of course! But does anyone know about the Japan situation? Japan seems to have experienced a much steeper decline than other countries connected to the internet. I wonder why?

IAnother reason I'm asking about Japan is that whenever I try to connect with Japansites I get into all kinds of difficulties. So as far as the internet users in Japan are concerned, are they truly connected to the WWW or limited to Japanese sites, not because they are prevented by law or anything but simply the mechanics of the thing.

This is why I wonder about the connection between the internet use and Japan's decline.

Just wondering, of course. I find it an interesting topic.

There surely are a whole array of factors, which is proved by the fact that the critical mass (publishers/worldy people ratio) is different for every society.

But the Internet is great in allowing to publish information which can be accessed by millions of other people at a very low cost.

Look at it this way: the WTS publishes millions of magazines each month which then have to be distributed and placed.

This costs them billions. On the other hand an individual may afford put up a website whose content renders the information contained in those millions of Watchtowers completely useless.

Also, no real mass scale cover-up is possible in any totalitarian system, not only WTS. In Iran there is official censorship on the local media. They can't have satelite TV. They can't even make international phonecalls from their homes. But they have to allow their young people to have internet access.

The age of information control is nearing it's demise. This has to have some effect on the WTS as well.
