Yes this is part of the disclosure the world needs to know about JWs.
1) They will not tell the truth, or omit testimony under oath if religious issues are at stake.
2) They will breach confidentiality in legal, medical or financial cases to report those associated with JWs.
3) They are a dangerous cult.
The whole thing REALLY agitated me - my life is just that, MINE, thankyouverymuch.
Hmmmmmmmm And yet to chose to use your life to go to meetings.
Whatever happened to leaving the matter in J's hands? I thought the "angels" were keeping the congo's clean.... why not leave it up to them to make matters known?
JW's are an organization of "snitcher's", so I gotta ask:
At every prayer I've ever heard in Dubdom, they end with asking for forgiveness of their sins- WHAT SINS!?
You mean they "sin"? If we're praying for forgiveness is it given? If so, why the need to expose everyones sin? Weren't they forgiven? And if not, why?
They are pre- occupied with straining out gnats!

Just a sidenote: This is also the case if you are employed as a psychologist...I forget which article I read it in, but it made the same reference. As that article pointed out, any ties to the congregation you might have, if someone in the congo discloses information that might stumble the JW shrink, or doctor, you are required to disclose it to the elders of the patients congregation.
Legally, it is both unethical, and illegal to disclose such information, but "true christians" who are in these professions hold their dogmatic bologna above the moral and emotional damage they can cause by providing this confidential info. You would think in the US that HIPAA would get their claws around the JW's that are violating this policy, but alas, there is not that many medical professionals involved as JW's to bring these cases to the forefront.
A damn shame in my opinion.
But when there seems to be serious wrongdoing, should a loyal Christian out of love of God and his fellow Christian reveal what he knows so that the apparent sinner can receive help and the congregation?s purity be preserved?
It sure would be interesting to see a JW reconcile this with newfound knowledge that their beloved wh-organization was doing the horizontal humpty-dance with the UN for 10 years.
Ray Franz mentions a case like this in "In Search of Christian Freedom." A JW woman working for a doctor ratted out a sister that had an abortion. The doctor got in legal trouble and fired the woman. He now says that he asks all potential employees some very pointed questions about confidentiallity.
Looking at the way that article is written, I think the Society did a pretty good job (as always) of making sure the lawsuits can swim upstream to them.

Very true, Melba. Due to HIPPA, they are really asking the rank & file dub who may work in the medical profession to not only sacrafice their job, but to open themselves to criminal and civil liabilities...as well as their employer. My wife works in the medical field .... billing and coding for a major US Hospital corporation. If I drop by to take her to lunch, I have to be escorted to and from her office and she has to make sure that any patient charts are out of my view and that she has nothing about a patient left on her computer screen. The fines and penalties are quite steep. Makes me wonder about the licensed infirmary at the WTS. Those people could get in trouble for revealing confidential info there too.
they can't even post the names of patients on hospital doors anymore, or have white boards with patient info and a name on them within view of anyone at the nurse's stations.
I'd love for them to get nailed over something like this.

I hate it when the Witness's say "You Must" do this or that. I should have long ago told them to pound sand. But like a foolish little lamb I did what I was told, but now I am mighty Goat, Baaaah Baaaah.

However, it's not unethical to not report child abuse if 1) there are not two witnesses to the abuse; and 2) the accused does not confess. Go figure. I am *so* glad that legislation is going forward in the some non-mandatory reporting states that everyone must report suspected child abuse, otherwise be bound with a criminal charge. If God's law can't accomplish it, then Ceasar's law just might, and we might find the tables turning at last! When there's far less Witnesses to contribute to the coffers because they are being held responsible for disobeying the law, there might be a swift kick in the patootie that the organization needs.

All of the above. Besides, the JWs are in a righteous standing before God as his faithful witnesses. That must be the reason it took so long to be de-programmed, God just had to know I was doing His will by eating cheese on my fellow unbelievers.
