WERE THERE BORING MOMENTS IN YOUR KH?

My first thoughts echoed that of the first two posters, so I'll offer this:

The least boring moments at the Hall were the non-Hall moments. When a speaker flubbed badly, "Thank you for sharing your tits with us, er, um, that is, TIPS with us, Sister Buxom," that sort of thing. The speaker tells a genuinely funny joke, a kid gives a particularly funny answer (often unintentional). The boring parts (99%) are the parts we're meant to hear. When a little something off the schedule occurs, that's when there's some fun.

A brother told me this story as actually happening, he was giving a talk at a congregation where most of the bros were older and the talk was at 3:00 after they had all eaten a big dinner. He noticed several going to sleep, it was a small cong. After a while they all fell asleep and he paused for awhile and no one noticed, so he got his outline and bible and sneaked out the back door and left them all asleep.

I took notes for just about everything because I was constantly bored. After drifting away from the religion for 3 years I came back for a short time and it felt like I had not missed a meeting. It was all the same. Enduring 'till the end' was an expression that I tried to apply to getting through the meetings.

Pre-1975, as a child, they had some pretty entertaining stuff at the meetings. Most of the stuff was boring, but our cong. has some who liked to spice up the service meeting. I remember one local needs part was done like Paul and Timothy reviewing the state of our congregation. The 2 brothers were in period costume and walking down the aisles with roving mics. Then we had another one that was done like the Tonight Show.....with our host "Ronnie Caresome" ....interviewing guests like "Sharon Service" and "Harold Forth". They turned out all the lights at the beginning and used flashlights to look like roving spotlights. Those were pretty good memories. Also, back then, we used to have a 15 minute intermission between the public talk and watchtower study. At least that gave a break. For a long time, it was the smoke break for those who still did...pre-smoke ban.

The more "new light" that came along, the more boring the meetings became.

My GOD!!! Most all of them.

There is this one brother that would give these crazy talks. He would start out with a subject, tell several interesting stories that had nothing to do at all with the subject at hand, and some how work them all back into the subject at the very end. Everyone loved his talks. They were like a mystery. You were trying the entire talk to figure out the ending.

This statement has brought back some memories. I remember a public talk where the speaker was dressed up as a profet. Another time a sister was dressed up as a bride in a talk about the shulamite maiden.

But then the society put a stop to all the theatrics because they felt more emphasis needed to be put on the material and not on the scenes. Party poopers!!!!!!!!

The meetings are so boring now that they nearly make me cry. I am also going because of family and let me tell you the boredom is thick.
