Well, it's that time of the year again, and I thought I'd revive this thread to give you my favorites playlist for 2007. Again, this is a playlist intended to play like an 80-minute CD, so this is not ordered like a Top 10 list but rather progresses chronologically and stylistically through the year of music. The genres represented as usual are mainstream alternative and indie. This time I include links to the songs themselves on HypeMachine; when you get to page just click on the "play" button in the player.

Because my playlist is (artificially) constrained by the length of a CD, I had to exclude a lot of songs I liked from the past year. So honorable mention goes to: "Bat's Mouth" by Bats For Lashes (listen: mp3 ), "Nothin' No" by David Valdervelde (listen: mp3), "Golden Skans" by Klaxons (listen: mp3 ), "Atlas" by The Battles (listen: mp3), and a few other good ones -- maybe they'll go on the CD list for next year. Plus there were a few older songs I really got into this year that can't go into either list, such as "Heartbeats" by The Knife (listen: mp3) and "Kookaburra" by John Vanderslice (listen: mp3). I might change my mind and add them in by replacing some of the later ones in the year and moving them to 2008.
Three of my favorite songs from 2004 are from Hilary Duff
So Yesterday - My wife and I had just split up and this reminded me to move on.
Come Clean - I find this song very motivational from a creative standpoint.
Why Not - I need to be reminded to take a chance from time to time.
