    My American friends,

When a British person is introduced on one of your TV shows, particularly comedy shows I invariably cringe.

Truth is, the person is so far removed from a standard British person, that it is laughable.

My question is: When you see an American portrayed on British or other foreign TV. Is the same true for you? Do we present ridiculous examples too?

That girl on Frazier (the one who married Niles) is one of the most annoying characters in the history of television, such an overdone, phoney-sounding Brit accent.

I don't know so much about British tv but I have travelled quite a bit, meeting Brits when I do and they all seem to think we mirror the individuals on Jerry Springer ... and that in fact we all sit around watching JS to boot ...

as far as Brits on tv, the British tv shows we get here portray some fairly daft individuals.

I think she is British, but from London not Manchester. But this show is an example of what I mean. When her relatives joined her in a couple of episodes, each of them had completely different regional accent.

By the way, They do speak that way in Manchester you know.

I've spent time with both of them and could understand them easily, but Simon said he slowed down when he talked because he knows Americans might have trouble understanding how he talks. However, with their little boys, it was almost impossible to figure out what they said, and I had to keep asking Ang what they said to me.

Most Brits do have bad teeth, most I've met. Like it was a bloody offense to be a dentist there!!!! hahaha

The girls are also pasty white with freckles.

I'm sure they have decriminalised dentistry.

Most Brits don't actually have bad teeth, what they don't go for is plastic teeth. Even good strong teeth start to show signs of wear and tear as we get older. Plus, crooked teeth are quite an individual thing that add character.

The worst teeth are smokers teeth where the lower gum have been eroded by nicotine producing the famous "long in the tooth" phenomenon.

Yes, the American male stereotype is either a loud, brash, and pushy man who uses the word 'ASS' a lot and throws money around, or has an impossibly imbecilic backwards southern drawl.
