What is that weird song that I have heard at all JW weddings that I have been to, and why do they play it? I am so glad I couldn't get married at the KH (not a witness. hubs is). Why can't you choose your own music and program for your wedding? Who actually knows the words, and why can't there be live music at the KH? If those are praises, they are very unique and personally speaking DULL!! Thanks!!

It's been a long time for me but off the top of my head I think it's Shulimite (sp) Woman? Uggg I absolutely love the traditional Wedding March and wanted it at my wedding but was told it was pagan. Gerrrrr!

Its either Shulamite Maiden or "Marriage is god's arrangement"

    either way, they both suck

How can the Traditional Wedding March be deemed as Pagan?

Edge, the same way that offering a toast is pagan...... lol

"Marriage is God's arrangement... la laaa la la la laaaaa, laa laaaa la la la laaa laaaaa, laa la la la la laaaaa".

    Yep, I remember that one.

URGH I hated that song, every single wedding there was had it, it was so boring.

When we got married we decided we didnt want it and choose different ones, I actually had one elder (the local busy body one) come up to me and ask why I was not using the marriage song that was provided in the song book - I said I didnt want it, he was really put out and got quite snippy with me

Yes, but Mendelssohn wasn't a JW. Therefore he was a pagan. QED

And toasting is just raising a drink in the air... lol

I believe their reasoning is something along the lines of that it is used at "worldly" weddings, and we should be no part of the world. Pathetic, I know.

Ah - silly me. I suppose, on the plus side, it's a bonus that the Society have been blessed with so many talented songwriters then!
