I don't have much trust in that missile defense system. I doubt that it could even intercept one missile coming at us.
Do you feel safer with this defense system?

Not anymore!
But then again who would fire a missle at us?

The danger is that the Missile Def Sys will lull politicians into a false sense of security, thinking they are safe and have no need to deal with things diplomatically. Not good.
This defense system was not put in place to stop major military powers with multiple warheads, but was put in place to stop a rogue nation with a handful of missiles, like North Korea.
it may work; it may not.
of more concern to me is the law ALLOWING a commercial passenger aircraft to be shot down by a missile. ( to avoid another 9/11 incident).
So, if you are a passenger on another suicidal hijacked airliner heading toward a metopolitan landmark; the Air Force is authorized to shoot you down....not good if you are one of the passengers; doesnt do much for me to want to take my children flying anytime soon...all this because the airlines cannot seem to perfect and improve security.
Frank....of "I'll take the train, class"
"It was the second failure in months for the experimental program."
It seems that the hard part would be hitting something going 25,000 miles an hour. But they can't even get the little bugger to launch.
Of course, in retrospect, they're asking a relatively intelligent bit of hardware to go smash itself to bits. Maybe it's not a failure in missile defense, but a success in artificial intelligence! The button says "launch" and the missle says, "Bite me, knock it down yourself!"
Dave
it will never come to pass....just like the STAR WARS defense system bottomed out...sooner or later we will get tired of paying contractors for trying to create something we can't afford, much less rely on. A dirty bomb or a smuggled in nuke are much greater threats...If North Korea nuked us then China would be really pissed off and prolly own whatever was left of that country when it was all said and done. Really though economics is impetus for any country not to attack us. Just my 2 cents.
Sincerely,
