to hell with the NHL and NHLPA. They lost *this* fan for a very long time to come. If people were really smart, they'd boycott NHL hockey for 3-5 years to drive ticket prices back down to reasonable levels. The NHL wouldn't exist without the fans.

Why is hockey negotiations so much more unreasonable than in other sports? Why do they get a lockout every six years, instead of reasonable negotiations? Is it because there are so many French Canadians playing and they are crazy?

Czar, that could very well be. Maybe a combination of that and the large number of European players. From what I understand, Europe is very left-leaning and Quebec is farther left then any other province in Canada. When you take that into comparison with basket ball which has the reputation of getting it's players from the gettos and high advertising contracts, hockey has a different class of player altogether. But maybe this is just my sterotypical white-hick personality comming through!

Four years ago I was playing shinney in the summer with a Toronto Maple Leaf, in the change room he said at that time and I quote "There will be no season in 2004-05" so if the players knew back then you can be sure they have prepared for a long fight.

Personally I play hockey and have watched the game all my life, I recall as a younge boy when I delivered the newspaper reading an article about expansion in the late seventies when the WHL came into the league and thought how great this was. As expansion took over the league and money became more important than hte game I started to loose interest. How can you keep up with the standings and players as there was to much to concentrate on.

I think the league needs to get rid of Gary Betman and have someone running hockey that knows about hockey and the players shoud be happy there playing a game that they love and getting payed very well for it.

In my opinion the best run league in the world is th NFL!

Those words by Scully were absolutly correct. I don't know much about hockey, but pro baseball has the same problem. Years ago the spectical of millionaire players striking was more than I could handle, and they have lost any business I might throw their way. This doesn't even address the arrogance and steroid use of some players. To hell with them.
