I suspect you're right, Pole. Nevertheless, the basic charges are correct. Quoting from the above material:

The charges lodged were that Jehovah?s Witnesses incite religious discord, cause families to break up, infringe upon the right to life by religiously motivated refusal of medical care, and promote the refusal to fulfill civic duties, such as military service. The prosecutor made it clear that she had no real-life examples or factual cases to present but that the evidence was contained in the literature of Jehovah?s Witnesses.

JWs most certainly do "incite religious discord" within families and between friends by insisting that JWs distance themselves from all non-JWs as much as possible. This is a basic tenet of the JW cult. "Being no part of the world" and "bad associations spoil useful habits" are the guiding ideas here.

JWs most certainly do "cause families to break up" by inciting the JW members to view the non-JW members as wicked and unworthy of life. My family broke up for exactly this reason. All participants of this website know this quite well.

JWs most certainly do "infringe upon the right to life by religiously motivated refusal of medical care" by influencing cult members to avoid blood transfusions even when medical authorities are convinced that they're necessary to save life. Furthermore, JWs are threatened with expulsion if they don't comply, so a decision to refuse blood cannot be claimed to have been made freely. Threats of expulsion negate all such claims.

JWs most certainly do "promote the refusal to fulfill civic duties, such as military service." The Russian constitution may provide for conscientious objection, but that doesn't negate this promotion. JWs also refuse participate in all political activities, not based on decisions freely made, but again under threat of expulsion.

All of this is easily proveable from JW literature published during the last 50+ years.

It's not clear to me that Russia is applying its rules on "cults and sects" evenhandedly. However, it is clear that at least some Russian authorities clearly understand the destructive nature of cults like the JWs and extreme Islamists.

Alan is right. The charges, however motivated, are correct.

Too bad for Witnesses! Maybe if they voted, they could get some positive attention. While the Society pretends

that voting is a matter of conscience, the reality is otherwise. Let them twist in the wind and suffer the effects

of being caught in their own lies.

They are reaping what they have sown.

There are plenty of real-life examples in the country where this cult was founded .
