Ozzie, thanks... Now I feel stupid: I could have thought of that myself..... just have a good one in reserve.
Actually Mrs Ozzie and I would be very happy to do that!
I've placed them back in a cupboard - when ever you visit our little country again - we will try them. (allthough I don't promise that for a long time - depends on the amount of guests I will have in the future)
How come Viv left it alone? I'll have to educate her more!!!
She called me last night and told me that she did drink it occasionally (when she had visitors). Turned out that these bottles are the "leftovers" Viv preferable drinks white wine (I, red) thats why all but one in the closet are red - and that there were some left.....
I completely forgot what I had in stock these years, but as they say : who saves something, owns something, or in good Dutch: "Wie wat bewaard, heeft wat"
I am happy to tell you that they weren't exposed to light, extreme temperatures or underwent any damages at the seals what so ever - there was only (in my eyes) an excessive amount of time.
My husband used to make wine. But one year the batch all turned to vinegar. Well, his mom said she would use the vinegar wine in her cooking, to bring it to her. So the next time Steve was at his parents, which happened to be at a family member's funeral. We lived 150 miles from his parents at the time. He goes by his parents house before going to the KH to drop off several gallons of "wine" but the house was already locked. So he left the bottles on the door step because he was running late for the funeral. Some sisters? came to the house to prepare a meal for the family during the furneral services. They took the bottles inside and placed some on the dinning table. Well, when everyone was sitting down eating the meal, people started drinking the "wine" and nearly choked, spitting the vinegar out of their mouths!! Steve then figured out these sisters had picked up his "wine" and served it by accident.
Word to the wise, always smell and sip your wine first.
At least it lighten up the mood at that funeral meal.
